Capsaicin is pungent principle found in fruits of various species of Capsicum, Solanaceae. Red pepper is chief source of capsaicin and is an indispensable spice among Korean people. Medically it has been used for long time; internally as local gastro-intestinal stimulant and as counterirritant externally. However, little is known about the metabolic fate of capsaiein. When supernatant fraction of rat liver homogenate was incubated at 37℃ with capsaicin, no distinctive change was observed. On the other -hand, freezing and thawing of the homogenate led to a new UV absorbing spot just below capsaicin on a TLC plate. This spot was intensified by addition of NADPH regenerating system(consisting of NADP and glucose-6-phosphate) to the incubation mixture. The UV absorbing spot was colored to orange when sprayed by diazotised sulfanilic acid reagent. The capsaicin shows reddash brown color when sprayed by the same reagent. With this and some other evidence, one can presume that the orange spot is a product of hydroxylation on vanillyl moiety of capsaicin by oxygenase. The hydroxylating enzyme system was found to be non-specific oxygenase to capsaicin because of fact that this enzyme system was very well induced with phenobarbital injection to the rats. Substrate induction was not evident even after three week long induction period.

This research analyzed the reality of Japanese characters teaching at high schools: and its purpose is to search for an effective character teaching method. A questionnaire was conducted in Jeonbuk area, targeting 25 Japanese language teachers and 256 high school students learning Japanese. In order to understand the actual condition of the Kana education, the results generated from the questionnaire were placed in a numerical order, comparing and analyzing the results from the research between teachers and students. As the generation is changing, the learning age is gradually getting younger. Accordingly, the outdated teaching method of writing letters on the blackboard has shown a need for change. In order to achieve an effective learning, substantial guidance methods should be constantly developed, as well as more interesting learning materials and different teaching methods should be used.
