Thermal shock phenomenon has been known as a major reason of filter cracking. In this study, the thermal shock phenomenon was simulated in a light duty diesel engine with a PM loaded filter by rapid switching the engine operating conditions from 3500rpm of full load to idle. This study compares the thermal shock characteristics of platinum coated and uncoated cordierite filters and suggests safe PM loading amount against the thermal shock.
연료 탱크의 Vapor Volume이 탄화수소 증발에 미치는 영향에 관한 이론적 접근

Since the regulation of evaporative emission become more stringent, it is required to study the key factors of fuel evaporation. The evaporation of fuel in tank is related with vapor pressure and mole ratio of fuel components. In this paper, the relation between hydrocarbon evaporation and vapor volume of fuel tank was simulated with theoretical model. And the simulation results were compared with data. We found that the amount of fuel in tank is not important factor on fuel evaporation, but the key factor of fuel's evaporation is the vapor volume of fuel tank.

The challenge today in automotive industry is to make more fuel efficient vehicle in order to reduce CO2 emission as well as to meet customer expectation. Lots of effort is continually on its way in all aspects of vehicle including engine performance, vehicle weight, body style, EMS, and other hardware development. In this paper, we confirmed that some vehicle conditions like environmental temperature, status of road, friction of vehicle tire and mileage accumulation have a significant effect on fuel economy through the standard/legal driving mode including FTP75, NEDC, HWFET, US06. And we hope that our results could give a direction to fuel economy improvement.
