Aerodynamic design of a vehicle is very important for fuel economy, driving stability and noise & vibration of a moving vehicle. In this numerical study, the correlation of aerodynamic effect between two model vehicles moving inline on a road was studied with a simplified SAE car model. Drag and lift are two main aerodynamic forces acting on a center of pressure(CP) of vehicle and both forces directly effect on fuel economy and driving stability of a vehicle. For the research, the distance between two vehicles was varied from 0.5L to 5L where L is the length of the model vehicle at 100㎞/h in speed with no side wind. The main concerns for this numerical research is on the understanding of the interaction forces; lift and drag between two vehicles moving inline. From the study, it was found that as the distance between two vehicles is closer, the drag force acting on both the front and rear vehicle decreases and the down force has same trend on both vehicles. As the distance(D) is 2.1m, the drag of the front vehicle reduced 37% but 26% on the rear-side vehicle. As the distance is 8.4m, the drag of the rear vehicle is lower than the front vehicle and reduced to 34% compared to the single driving.

The operating condition of MGT engine is hard and crucial with its high operating speed and high temperature but it is highly concerned in industry because of its specific power(power to weight). Recent research topics of gas turbine engine are on high-grade materials, cooling design of high-temperature parts, heat blocking and combustion chamber mixture gas generation. In here, an effect of shape change of the injector nozzle was studied to understand its effect to the formation of well-mixed homogeneous mixture in the combustion chamber for the higher combustion efficiency of the model engine. For the performance analysis of mixture formation in the injection process with the change of the shape of the injector nozzle, three parameters; diffusion angle, diffusion distance and fuel volume flowrate injected into the combustion chamber were analyzed. From the study, it was found that Model-1 with the right-angle edged injection hole and Model-3 with the rounded surface of the inside of the injection nozzle have better performance on the mixed gas formation for the higher combustion performance.

As the environmental pollution becomes global problem, the importance of eco-friendly cars is magnified. Especially, the solar car has high potential caused that many solar car races are being held around the world. In this paper, the various factors of the solar car components are analyzed by using power consumption model to infer that how factors have an effect on the driving in the Australian environment which is the place being held WSC. Based on the analysis, motor and solar cell efficiencies have a most impact on running performance.
고속주행 교행 차량의 공기역학적 주행특성에 관한 수치해석 연구

For this study, air resistance coefficient (CD), lift coefficient (CL) according to changes in inter-vehicle distance, driving speed, and inter-vehicle separation distance of crossing vehicles, and yawing moment and rolling moment affecting the driving stability of vehicles was calculated and the driving stability of the relative movement vehicle was judged based on the result. According to the results, the lower the vehicle speed, the greater the lateral distance between the two vehicles, and the more stable the vehicle.
