연극은 순간성, 일회성을 갖는 예술로, 이러한 연극의 특성을 가장 잘 수반하고 있는 요소이자, 연극 을 구성하는 요소들 중에서 가장 중요한 요소는 바로 무대 위에서 ‘살아 숨 쉬는 배우’ 일 것이다. 많은 연구자들이 ‘배우’에 대해, 그리고 ‘연기예술’에 대해 끊임없이 연구하고 있으며, 이를 통해 지속적으로 배우의 영향력과 연기술의 확장이 가능하게 되었다. 그리고 이러한 배우예술은 연극예술의 존재에 있어 지금까지도, 그리고 앞으로도 크게 작용할 것으로 사료되며, 시대적 환경이 변화한다고 할지라도 배우의 연기예술은 끊임없이 진행될 것이라고 예측해 볼 수 있다. 배우는 훈련을 통해 무대 위에서 살아 숨쉬어 야 할 것이다. 따라서 배우는 매 순간 새로운 것들을 구상하고, 창조하고 표현할 수 있어야 한다. 그리고 이를 위해 끊임없이 사물이나 사람 등을 관찰하고, 보이지 않는 것들과 경험하지 못했던 것들을 스스로 상상하며 창조적 인물로서 거듭하여야 한다. 이에 따라 인물을 창조하기 위한 훈련이 수반되어야 할 것 이다. 이에 본 연구의 목적은 지난 세월 동안 다양한 연구적 효과가 검증된 리 스트라스버그의 배우 훈 련 방법을 토대로, 연구자가 진행한 공연인 <빨간 피터의 고백>에 실제 적용한 훈련 방법인 동물 훈련을 토대로 연구를 진행하고자 한다. 이를 통해 동물 관찰훈련의 실행으로 동물이 가진 템포와 움직임, 움직 임을 통한 근육 및 신체의 활용 등을 중심으로 이를 인물창조에 적용하였고, 이를 통해 배우로서의 신체 적 확장과 더불어 정서적 확장 및 표현의 구체화를 실행하여 막막하게 막혔던 순간에도 연기를 준비하는 배우들이 관찰과 상상력을 동원하여 폭넓게 연기할 수 있는 방안을 제시해보고자 한다. The most important element that accompanies the characteristics of the theater, which are instantaneous and one-off, and the most important element on the stage is the ‘Living actor’. Many of researchers have constantly studied on the ‘art of acting’ and the ‘actor’. Through these studies, the actors can continuously expand their influence and acting skills as well. And it is thought that this ‘art of acting’ always have and always will play a significant role in the existence of theatrical arts. Even though there will be a change in the circumstances of the times, it can be predicted that the actor’s ‘art of acting’ will continue to progress. Actors will be alive and breathing on the stage through the training. Therefore, the actors should be able to envision, create, and express new things at every single moment. In order to achieve those above, actors must constantly observe thing, and people, imagine the invisible, unexperienced, and repeat this process to be a creative person. Accordingly the training should accompany to create the characters. Therefore, the purpose of this study is based on Lee Strasberg’s actor training method, which has been verified for various research effects over the past years, and a performance conducted by the researcher <Confession of Red Peter> that actually applied to the animal training. The animal observation was applied to the character creation, focused on the tempo, and movement of the animal, and muscles and body utilization. Through those, the physical expansion as an actor as well as emotional expansion and expression are realized, and to suggest a way to perform a wide range of performances by mobilizing observation and imagination even in the most difficult moment.
