The newly established high speed railway station may function not only just as a traffic convergence but also as an energizing force with multiple roles in the context of municipal environment. As a result, the development of high speed railway station zone will be considered as great opportunities as well to enhance quality of life of the neighboring inhabitants, as to develop new footholds for the inner-municipal growth and mobilization. The main purpose of this article is to offer guidelines about the effects of development of the high speed railway station zone seen from multiple aspects of municipal lifes and functions. To attain this purpose, the definition of high speed railway station zone, its characteristics, and its roles will be handled with the case of advanced countries such as Japan and France. And some lessons will be proposed based on them.

Concept of conflict management system and necessity of introducing it into the executing process of public projects have been subjects of any previous studies. Those systems are, however, not practically applicable to rail projects given the unique nature of rail industry. In this context, the author presented cases of conflicts emerged during the process of the Gyung?bu High Speed Rail Construction Project and mapped out realistic case study applicable to construction sites.

Nowadays, the corporate culture is recognized as an important invisible assets determining the competitive advantages in all the business firms. The purpose of this article is to depict the corporate culture of railroad-related organizations based on the cognitive response of employees. To attain this purpose, several aspects of current corporate cultures are surveyed through questionnaire and analyzed by SPSS. In this paper the theoretical framework adopted was an corporate culture model developed by Rousseau.

This study examined the existing issues and current status of how to best approach the establishment of railroad asset of the corporation in the long run. It also explored some preventative measures for further problems. Based on the law of state property and related railroad statutes, the research referred to basic plans for railroad management of Korea Rail Network Authority, the outcome of file research, handbook of asset management, guidelines and policy of Ministry of Finance and Economy for state property management, recommendations of the Board of Audit and Inspection and fact-finding research of state property (miscellaneous properties). The findings are making a few suggestions on the service of the Korea Rail Network Authority and Korail.

The main transportation mode of long distance inter-city passenger trips is high-speed rail and the modal share of transportation has been changed profoundly since the KTX service has been started in the Kyung-Bu railroad transportation corridor in the day of 1 April, 2004. After an opening of KTX service in the second stage Kyung-Bu and Ho-Nam railroad transportation corridors, a capacity of incumbent railroads will be increased and operational environments of freight train will be improved. The purpose of this paper is to examine the impact of KTX service operation on the national logistics thoroughly. This paper establishes a deceptive scheme in the national railroad logistic transportation and a route operational strategy between the main origins and destinations efficiently considering the changes of the current freight transportation system in the future. We expect to achieve efficiency of logistic transportation in this paper through alternative routes for example Ho-Nam, Chang-Hang, Seo-Hae line.

Korean railway network GISbased information system requires so much cost and time. One of the difficulties is due to the fact that GISbased information system requires the feature database for GIS, which is generally built manually from many asbuilt drawing files. In order to buildup database automatically Using GPS coordinates, this study suggests the automatic data conversion from electronic drawings to make feature database for GIS. The proposed method can be applied to build largescale railway facility management system.

철도건설사업은 장기간에 걸쳐 공사가 진행 되는 대형사업이며, 토목, 궤도 외 전기, 건축, 신호등 다양한 분야가 한 장소(공간)에서 순차적으로 공사가 이루어지는 사업이기 때문에 발주자와 시공사 간에 협업체계가 요구된다. 더욱이 운행선 인접공사의 경우 열차안전운행을 확보하면서 사업을 시행해야 하는 어려움이 있어 비용, 공기 등의 목표를 효과적으로 당성하기 위한 체계적이고 전문적인 사업관리를 철도건설사업에 있어서 필수적이다. 지금까지 개발된 사업관리시스템은 문자 및 도표로 표기 한 기능위주의로 시스템개발 운영하고 있다. 또한 토목 등 9개 공정를 평면에 이산적(離散的)이어서 사업정보 파악이 어렵다고 할 수 있다. 따라서, 지리정보(GIS)기반의 사업관리시스템을 개발하여 실재 현장과 유사한 시각적인 정보제공으로 직관적인의사결정과 신속한 대응이 가능하고, 지리정보 화면 갱신 비용 등 시스템 유지관리 비용을 최소화 하는 방법을 제시하고자 한다. Railway construction work is mega-project progress in installation a long period of time. Between client and construction companies are necessary mutual cooperation because variety work of civil, track, architecture, electric and signaling is accomplished in regular sequence same location. Moreover, in case of installations work for adjacent commercial line, because these work should ensure to secure operation of commercial train, project management of systematic and professional on railway construction work is essential in order to effectively achieve a goal for cost and construction period. The system of project management has been developed and operated marking of a letter and a chart only functional. Also grasp of project information are difficult due to disperse nine processes including civil on project management system The method is presented by development for project management system on basis GIS in order to minimize cost of system maintenance for update GIS and decide communication, has rapidly action through similar visual information corresponding to the actual site.

In the testing stage of HEMU-400X(next Korean high speed train), maximum speed(400 ㎞/h) tests will be conducted. On considering the condition of the overhead contact lines of the test tracks, it looks obvious that 400㎞/h is over the design speed criteria. For breaking through this incompatibility, the tension of contact wire seems necessary to be increased during the test runs. When the contact wire tension is changed, the contact wire vertical plane geometry will be changed. This geometry change may effect the current collection performance. In this paper, we calculate the geometry change amount of the contact wire in terms of the dropper lengths in ordinary spans. and also review how much the changed will be effect the performance of the current collection of 400㎞/h test runs.

One of the difficulties is due to the fact that GIS?based information system requires the feature database for GIS, which is generally built manually from many as?built drawing files. In order to build?up the feature database for GIS with ease, this study suggests the automatic data conversion from electronic drawings to make feature database for GIS. The proposed method can be applied to build large?scale railway facility management system at lower cost.
