This study was investigated the spray behavior of an intermittent injection using a gasoline fuel injector with an air assisted type adaptor. Image processing system and POA system were utilized for the visualization of a spray behavior and the measurement of a fuel drop size and mean velocity, respectively. Fuel injection duration was fixed with 3ms. Injection pressure and air-supply pressure were varied. As results, axial velocity showed to correspond trend in a downstreem regardless of air supply pressure. In case of air-supply, SMD was decrease in comparison with no air.<br/>

The Spray performance of a fuel injector have an important effect upon engine power and emission. This study discusses the spray behavior of an intermittent injection using a gasoline fuel injector. Image processing system and PDA system was utilized for the visualization of a spray behavior and the measurement of a fuel drop size and mean velocity. respectively. Fuel injection duration was fixed with 3ms and injection pressure was varied. As results. mean spray arrival time is linear increased with spray axis distance. Spray axis velocity linear correlate with fuel drop size in the time interval of an injected main spray.<br/>
