지금은 '개발기간 단축, 고품질'을 위한 종합적인 대처를 요하는 시대이다. 제품은 점차 복잡화되고 그 종류 또한 다양화되어 가는 반면 제품의 생애주기(Life Cycle)는 축소되고 있다. 이러한 무한경쟁시대에 있어 적자생존의 확실한 해답은 기업스스로 개발기간 및 납기를 단축시키고 제품개발에 앞장서며, 제품의 생애주기 원가를 절감시켜 성능과 가치 양면을 동시에 고객에게 감동 줄 수 있는 품질을 확보하는 데에 있다. 이와 같은 측면에서 프로세스의 각 공정을 동시 병행적으로 개발하는 '동시공학'은 건설에 있어 중요한 개념으로 인식되고 있다. 본 연구는 동시공학을 성공적으로 적용하기 위하여 문헌 및 여러 가지 사례를 조사, 분석하고 그것들이 각 프로세스에 미치는 영향을 시뮬레이션 실행을 거쳐 의사결정 모델로 제시한다. The age of synthetic correspondence against "development period shortening, high quality" is about to come. While the product is becoming complexation gradually and also diversification, life cycle of product gets shorted. Under the infinity competition age, the certain answer of "the survival of the fittest" is that the enterprise itself must be able to shorten development and delivery term, reduce product development and life cycle cost, and satisfy customer in performance and value. From this point of view, concurrent engineering's theory, which develops the process of product in the manner of repetition, parallel, and synchronousness, is realized as a important strategy instrument in construction. This study investigates and analyzes several examples in order to apply concurrent engineering successfully, and presents the decision-making model through the simulation about the factor affecting in each process.

In Korea, a number of large-sized public project are understook according to the advanced construction technology and require the schedule management to establish schedule plan, to control construction progresses, and to solve matters related with another project. But, problems are breaking out in field of schedule management because its function is contrary against our expectation. So, This study focus on suggesting the method to be more effective schedule management in huge public construction project.
