매체 활용이 중학생의 시민의식과 다문화수용성에 미치는 영향

본 연구는 매체가 시민의식(거주지역 인식과 공동체 의식)과 다문화수용성에 어떻게 영향을 주는지 탐색하는데 목적을 두었다. 한국아동·청소년패널조사(KCYPS)의 중학교 1학년 패널 2차년도 데이터를 활용하여 한국 중학교 2학년 학생들이 하루 중에 독서, 컴퓨터 활용, TV/비디오를 여가활동으로 활용하는 시간과 인터넷 활용과 휴대전화 활용 유형별 활용 빈도에 대한 자기 보고 결과가 시민의식 정도 및 다문화수용성과 어떠한 관련성을 갖는지 구조방정식모형으로 분석하였다. 본 연구에서는 Kymlicka(1995)가 말한 다문화적 시민의식(multicultural citizenship) 개념과 Berry(1997)의 문화생태모형(ecocultural model)을 기반으로 생성된 중학생의 매체활용과 다문화수용성 및 시민의식에 관한 모형이 실제 데이터와 적합함을 입증하였다. 구체적으로, 연구 변인으로 삼은 독서, 컴퓨터, TV/비디오 매체 활용은 학생들의 긍정적 시민의식을 예측하였으며 이 가운데 특히 학생들이 독서로 보내는 여가시간이 공동체의식 형성 및 문화적응에 도움이 되는 변인임을 알 수 있었다. 인터넷과 휴대전화 활용 세부 활동에 관한 모형을 분석한 결과, 매체를 통해 가족과 대화를 많이 한 학생들일수록 다문화수용성이 높은 것으로 나타났다. The current study aimed to explore use of media that influences senses of neighborhood and community, and levels of acceptance of multiculturalism. Using the second phase data for Middle school students of Korean Child Youth Panel Studies (KCYPS), it was examined how the amount of times the students spent for rest with these media activities was related to levels of their acceptance of multiculturalism and senses of community. Further, frequency of various internet and mobile phone uses was examined in relation to senses of neighborhood and community, and acceptance of multiculturalism using Structural Equation Modeling technique. A conceptual model driven from Kumlick`s(1995) concept of multicultural citizenship and Berry`s(1997) ecocultural model was established. The conceptual model appeared to fit the KCYPS data at acceptable levels. The three media types predicted students` positive citizenship. Time for resting with book-readings particularly contributed to developing citizenship. As a result of the examination, active intervention from parents and family members on mobile phones resulted in greater citizenship and acceptance of multiculturalism.

국내 사회정서학습(SEL) 프로그램 효과에 관한 메타분석

본 연구는 사회정서학습(SEL) 프로그램이 국내에서 어떠한 효과를 보이고 있는지(전체 평균 효과, 조절변인, 종속변인) 메타분석을 통해 검증하였다. 연구의 목적을 위해 2011년부터 2020년까지 국내에서 출간된 20편의 논문에서 43개의 효과 크기를 선정하고 R 프로그램을 활용하여 메타분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 국내 사회정서학습(SEL) 프로그램의 전체 평균 효과 크기는 0.79로 Cohen(1988)의 기준에 의하면 중간 효과 크기를 나타낸다. 둘째, 국내 사회정서학습(SEL) 프로그램 조절변인의 효과 크기는 아동을 대상으로 16회기 이상, 주 3회 이상 20~40분의 프로그램을 실시할 때 가장 효과적인 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 국내 사회정서학습(SEL) 프로그램 종속변인의 효과 크기는 사회정서학습 역량의 효과 크기가 1.04로 가장 컸으며, 큰 효과 크기를 나타냈다. 본 연구의 결과는 향후 프로그램 개발 및 실행에 있어서 프로그램의 질을 높일 수 있는 기준을 마련하고, 다양한 인성교육 프로그램을 필요에 따라 선택하고 비교해볼 수 있는 종합적 관리 시스템을 마련하는 것이 필요함을 시사한다. This study verifies the effect (overall average, moderator variables, and dependent variables) of the social-emotional learning (SEL) programs performed in South Korea through meta-analysis. For the purpose of the study, 43 effect sizes were selected from 20 papers published in South Korea from 2011 to 2020. We conducted meta-analysis using the R program. Result of the study are as follows. First, the overall average effect size of the SEL programs was 0.79, indicating a median effect according to Cohen’s criteria. Second, the effect size of moderator variables was found to be most effective when the SEL programs were conducted for children, for 20-40 minutes, at 16 or more sessions, and three or more times per week. Third, as for the dependent variables, the effect size of social-emotional learning competency was the largest at 1.04, indicating a large effect size. This study suggests that it is necessary to improve the quality of programs in future program development and to prepare a management system that can select and compare various education of humanism programs.
