The purpose of this study is to modify the surface charge of filter media positively for capturing negatively charged pollutants such as bacteria and virus from water. The apparatus for manufacturing of the filter media consists of a mixing tank, a vacuum pumping system, an injection nozzle, a roller press and a controller. The filter media is composed of glass fiber (50~750 ㎚), cellulose fiber (10~20 ㎛) and positive charge modifier. The performance evaluation of the charge modified filters is conducted by measuring the surface zeta potential and the filtration efficiency. The zeta potential value and the filtration efficiency of the charge modified filter media are +35 ㎷ at pH 7 and 98% for PSL particles for 0.11 ㎛, respectively.

The aerodynamic and aeroacoustic performance of discharge grille of outdoor unit of air-conditioner was investigated in this study. Discharge grille is one of outdoor unit’s important parts to affect the flow rate and Overall Sound Pressure Level(OSPL). New type of discharge grille was suggested based on the results of numerical simulation. To simulate the flow pattern near the propeller fan, commercial flow solver FLUENT was used. Sliding mesh method was used for rotating propeller fan and initial condition for unsteady model was calculated by Multiple Reference Frame(MRF) method. To minimize the interaction noise between fan blade wake and discharge grille, new discharge grille has radial rib which is aligned with trailing edge of fan blade. And inclined radial rib was adopted for reducing flow rate drop in discharge grille. The optimization of inclined angle of radial grille was performed experimentally.

The multi-disk press system is developed and evaluated to enhance the performance of the conventional screw press in sludge dewatering process. The objective of this study is to investigate experimentally the pre-treatment technique for the multi-disk press of dewatering system. In this study, the variations of the chemical coagulation are compared in the pre-treatment process, and the water content of sludge is evaluated in the multi-disk press. The particle size of sludge and the height of sedimentation liquid are measured to estimate sludge coagulation. The experimental results show that the particle size of sludge is increased and the sedimentation liquid is separated by the chemical coagulation in the sewage sludge The multi-disk press of dewatering system can reduced to the water content of the sewage sludge to 79.95 wt%.
