The BIM libraries in the domestic industry are being created by individual parties in the industry to satisfy their own purpose and work efficiency. However, it is not easily possible to integrate or reuse the information on BIM framework as they lack the standards for geometric and property information yet. Since this is one of major obstructions to prevent BIM from being adopted in the industry nowadays, we propose direction and plan to resolve this issue. The plan we suggest is basically to develop an original common library based on the Open BIM national standards and to encourage civil autochthonic development and propagation of it. The original library will be based on the BIM classification system being developed and application scenarios. In order to secure connection to other database, we will reflect the existing classification systems and design details. We also use standardized data format to keep data consistency. In the long term, close cooperation among all the related parties will be critical for successful settlement of the BIM library.
인공지능을 활용한 BIM 건축공간설계의 정량적 비교방안 - 결정트리와 전문가시스템 중심으로

This study is to measure the qualitative feature of a building space design based on the space usage knowledge extracted by machine learning from space paths in other building designs. This will suggest a way to compare quantitatively the related expert knowledge embedded in building designs. The space paths are extracted from BIM data and processed by machine learning algorithm to produce decision trees, from which sets of rule are deduced. These rules are to be stored in a knowledgebase and then inferred by an expert system engine for multiple building designs. Analyzing the results, we could measure how much the specific knowledge of space usage is reflected in a certain building design. And by comparing these measured values, we could find the level of similarity among the designs in terms of that knowledge. This study could be a basic research for relative evaluation of building designs based on the related expert knowledge obtained by machine learning technologies.
전문가시스템을 활용한 BIM기반 건축공간 면적계획 최적화 방안

The quality of building space program is a key to measure how the building performance satisfies its owner and users. However assuring its efficiency requires reliable criteria that reflect high level experience knowledge in the field. This study suggests a plan to gauge the level of building space performance using expert knowledge, which has not been utilized well enough but should play a critical role. In order to setup an expert system measuring level of the space program, we firstly optimized the space areas to the best case in a knowledgebase and use them as criteria to judge the quality of the spaces extracted from BIM model. We found the experimental results show us a promising way of measuring a relative quality of the space programs.
공간구문론과 전문가시스템을 활용한 BIM 공간배치 최적화 방안

As building space constitution and layout are critical for satisfying the building owner and users, their optimization is so important in the design process. However it’s not always simple to set up objective criteria for the space layout optimization for different requirements and the architects mostly depend on their own experience for these. This study is to suggest a way to make up for this issue by referencing and deducing the space layout based on the given BIM space information and existing knowledge. For this purpose, the Space Syntax is applied to extract the information from a space model and an Expert System is used to make the best use of the relevant knowledge. Based on the Integration indexes for all the spaces, we could compare the space layout alternatives and determine the best selection for different accessibility conditions.
전문가시스템을 활용한 BIM 물리적 품질 검토방법에 관한 기초연구

As BIM in the construction industry has been activated, the building information reliability - design quality is getting important. Meanwhile, it is still difficult to reflect the quality control experience to the modelling since the current methods are strongly rely on a certain BIM tools or systems with formal logics and limited information for quality checking. Therefore, the checking results may contain a lot of issues unrelated or unnecessary to the BIM qualities. In order to overcome this problem, we firstly performed clash check using a conventional checking tool and secondly interpret the results by an Expert System to filter out more meaningful results. We found this study gave a confirmation that it is possible to improve clash quality control when we link the expert experience to the rule-based automatic checking system.

The recent introduction of BIM technology has raised the interest on the BIM quality assurance and management more than ever. This study aims to consider the ways of BIM quality improvement by analyzing the most frequent issues rising from multiple BIM projects. For this purpose, the 12 test models from BIM education program hosted by buildingSMART Korea are investigated based on the requirements in the public BIM guidelines. All the BIM issues generated are categorized by the criteria applied and analyzed for each kind of building element. The results showed that more than half of the issued at least could be cleared out by improving modeling habits and technical guides.

Since the safety accidents on the construction sites take large part of total industry disasters, research on the construction safety has been getting important. Recently, as BIM technology allows cooperation between designer and constructor groups, it becomes more active worldwide than before to study on the ways of accomplish construction safety improvement in the design phase. In this paper, we suggested a checklist for assuring construction safety in the phase of design, and performed automatic evaluation by using a BIM quality checking tool. This shows that it is possible for us to find out the construction safety has been improved in the design phase. Once the standard checklist and assurance process are developed, they are expected to play a great role of reducing disasters in the construction industry.
시공단계에서의 BIM 활용성 증대를 위한 품질관리 방안

Since it is common that design BIM data created by designers and engineers do not afford to consider constructability for the site, it is usually necessary to optimize the design BIM data to construction BIM data. While this optimization process requires various design updates depending on the construction methods and requirements, most designers in the projects do not participate the construction phase, which can arise another obstacle factor in utilizing construction BIM. In order to prevent this issue, we need cooperation system, where all the parties work together from the initial stage of project to create quality assured BIM model. However this kind of system is not realistic in Korea with most of the working processes being conventional yet. Therefore, at this point of time, it is realistic for us to secure basic construction qualities in the design phase and keep those qualities by the construction phase. This study suggested a relevant quality management plan for BIM usage in construction phase.

This study aims to study IFD based IFC application, and API technology were examined for extending IFC2×4 information by using IFD libraries. According to this, information exchange scenarios for Open BIM were established with IFD application. And necessary standard elements for introduction of IFD were introduced and the templates of object and property information were suggested for realization.
결정트리와 전문가시스템을 활용한 BIM 건축설계의 공간용도 평가방안

This study is to extract and express the space function expert knowledge embedded in existing house designs in the form of rules and suggest a way of applying these rules to measure the knowledge level in other house designs. For this purpose, we utilize BIM data to express the space layout into J-Graph and extract the space features related to functionality or usage. Machine learning is applied to these features to get decision trees, from which series of rules are generated. These rules are used to anticipate the space usage for test house designs. We interpret the resulting accuracy to be the level of knowledge reflected to a house design and suggest this could be a way of assessing the space layout plans of buildings.
