This study investigated the relationship between the vocabulary proficiency and reported frequency in use of vocabulary learning strategies by students. An analysis of the survey revealed several important points. First, the learners were found to heavily rely on the following strategies: employing written repetition, asking classmates for the meaning of a word, memorizing the spelling of a word, memorizing word list, asking teacher for an L1 translation, using bilingual dictionaries, using keyword method and guessing the meaning of a word from textual context. Second, the strategy of written repetition was found not to be related to the vocabulary scores, while guessing from textual context and using the bilingual dictionary were closely related to the vocabulary scores. Also, the use of metacognitive strategies and bilingual dictionaries played a major role in distinguishing higher level students from others in the vocabulary scores. Third, with regard to English vocabulary scores, high-proficiency learners used a wider range of vocabulary strategies than low-proficiency learners did. The pedagogical implication of this study is that learners need to be trained to use more various vocabulary learning strategies. At the same time, teachers should encourage learners to use dictionaries effectively and various strategies in order to improve vocabulary knowledge proficiency.
인트라넷 환경에서 E-R Diagram에 기반한 Interactive Form Generator의 설계 및 개발에 관한 연구

Currently, considerable work has gone into the construction of the Intranet which utilizes the advantages of the World-Wide Web and enables the enterprize to easily accomodate the huge amount of information and work already built. In this paper, we propose an interactive forms database query language which enables users to build their queries visually and naturally in the 'fill-in-the-blank' manner. The previous forms interface like Oracle Forms are static in the sense that forms are already set in the templates, while the proposed forms interface is dynamic since users are able to create their own forms from the E-R(Entity-Relation-ship) Diagram. We also propose an E-R Diagram Generator upon which the forms templates are built.
