Construction builds a space on spaces. Construction requires a space to move, store, and fabricate materials, and to perform works. However, the required property of spaces change as the work progresses. In addition, the work space becomes insufficient where the multiple works are occurred concurrently. Therefore space requirements should be planned and controlled by construction managers to minimize congestions and interferences in a work space. This research identified patterns and reasons of problems related to work spaces during interior works in apartment housing projects. Also the degree of importance and the frequency of occurrence by each type of work space problems were surveyed through questionnaires. The results were compared and analyzed to assess the state of the recognition and to suggest directions for effective management of construction spaces. The results shows that the most demanding problems for improvements are insufficient work spaces and no clean-up after works, which requires planning of daily works and attitude changes through educations. More details and conclusions are discussed in this paper.
