This paper deal with the study of the phenomenon of Ferroresonance in the 170㎸ Gas Insulated Switchgear(GIS). The Electromagnetic Transient Program(EMTP) was used to simulate the phenomenon of Ferroresonance and conducted the study of the transient over-voltage. An example power system, used in this study, have an accident that the ferroresonance phenomenon happens at MOFVT(Voltage Transformer). The simulation results notices that the secondary part of VT has to be connected by ferroresonance suppressor when the circuit breaker connected with grading capacitor is switched off.

We have carried out the construction of the 154㎸ intelligent substation with KEPRI. The intelligent substation is built in Gochang testing facility of KEPCO and consists of electronic instruments for GIS(gas insulated switchgear), digital control panel, remote monitoring and diagnosis system, and digital relay system. Rogowski coil type CT(RCT) and capacitive voltage divider(CVD) are introduced compared with the instrument transformer of conventional type. Digital control panel(DCP) replaces the LCP(local control panel) which is drived for mechanical operation. For the monitoring of the condition of GIS and TR, various sensors are used. In this paper, we mention the synopsis and report the progress state of project.

This paper present the fundamental insulation characteristics of Dry Air gas and insulation coating in high voltage power apparatus. It is known that the dielectric strength of Dry Air is approximately one-third that of SF6 gas. we attempt that the insulation coating and dry air gas have replaced the SF6 gas as insulation of the switchgear. We proposed the dry air insulated switchgear(DAIS) for High Voltage apparatus.
