In this paper, the misfire detection method using the tooth time fluctuation of engine crankshaft is proposed. In the normal explosion stroke, tooth times are decreased, then in other strokes tooth times are increased. But if the misfire occurs, tooth times can not be reduced. For the realtime application to the ECU logic, tooth times before explosion and after explosion is only analyzed. The proposed method is applied to the Hyundai ecu logic and verified from the experiment..
