One of the important way to imcrease relialility of the power plant is to measure the vibration of steam turbine blades in service operation. The measurement of the rotaing blades is usually executed by strain gauge, however, since the turbine has multiple stages, it is generally difficult to attach the strain gauges to the rotating blades obtain signals from the gauges, especially in the intermediate stages. Furthrmore, gauges and wirings must endure high centrifugal force of rotating blades, steam pressuse, and moisture in the turbine under operation. This paper presents noncontact measurement technology which measures the vibration of the steam turbine blades during operation using a laser beam installed in a stationary casing. Furthemore, this paper delineates technical problems in the measurement of the steam turbine bladders, such as the severe environment in which light is irregularly reflected, the durability of sensors, and small amplitude due to the shroud blade.

In This study, it is researched that, for the improvement of the recent serious energy and pollution problems afuel, using methanol as a principle component can be substituted for gasolin engine. The engine powers and the harmful components in the exhaust gas mentioned fuel and gasoline. In the comparison of the two fuels by changing the loads and the rotating speed of the engine without any change in the structure(of the present gasoline automobile), the conclusions are as fellows. 1. Using the substitution fuel, the out put is amaller than That is gasoline. 2. Specific Fuel Consumption of the substitutional fuel is larger, but the difference decreases in accordance with the increase of the engine speed. 3. Thermal efficiency in the case of using the substitutional fuel is similar to that of gasoline. 4. CO content in the exhaust gag is very little in the substitutional fuel. 5. Torgue in the case of using the substitutional fuel is lawer 6. A little changs is in the internal conditions of engine in the ease of using the substitutional fuel.
