Assessment and validation of RANS turbulence models have been conducted for the separation flow in through-type pintle nozzle through the comparison between computational results and experimental results. Models of pintle nozzle and numerical conditions are selected from preceding research. The separation flow occurred in nozzle flow because of shock wave of pintle. Precision simulation of separation flow in pintle nozzle is important to analyze the dynamic characteristics and nozzle thrust. The simulation tests of grid dependency and turbulent model are conducted to determine the proper method of pintle nozzle analysis. Each results are compared with experimental data. Grid dependency simulation is set up by changing the base size of grid between 0.6mm and 0.09mm. Turbulent models are selected from Spalart-Allmaras, κ -ε and κ -ω model that be used in general. Through this study, proper numerical simulation method of pintle nozzle will be suggested.

In this study, we analyzed steady-state aerodynamic characteristics of air-to-surface GPS guide bomb using CFD. The analytical configuration consists of a bomb and a flight kit, excluding internal devices. The conditions under which the analysis is performed are Mach numbers 0.3, 0.6, and 0.9, and the angle of attack is 0 to 12 degrees. Prior to the analysis, a grid - dependent analysis was performed to select a suitable reference grid. The reference grid size is 1.8 mm and the total number of grid is about 7,500,000. In the analysis region, Cz tended to increase linearly with the increase of the angle of attack, but stall occurred at an Mach number of 0.6 and an angle of attack of more than 10 degrees. In the subsonic domain Mach 0.3, Ca was negative at an angle of attack above 10 degrees, which is helpful for long flights. I hope that GPS guide bomb’s steady state flow analysis will help the study of gliding bomb in various fields in the future.
