다문화 관련 멀티미디어 동화를 활용한 교육활동이 유아의 다문화 인식과 친사회적 행동에 미치는 영향

본 연구는 다문화 관련 멀티미디어 동화를 활용한 교육활동이 유아의 다문화 인식 및 친사회적 행동에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 알아보고자 이루어졌다. 본 연구는 만 4세반 유아 40명(실험집단 20명, 통제집단 20명)을 대상으로 하였으며, 실험집단에는 베트남 다문화 가정 유아 1명과 통제집단에는 중국 다문화 가정 유아 1명이 포함되어 있다. 실험집단은 6주 동안 1주에 2회씩 총 12회에 걸쳐 다문화 관련 멀티미디어 동화를 들은 후 이와 관련된 교육활동을 실시하였으며, 통제집단은 기존 유치원 교육과정에 맞추어 수업이 진행되었다. 본 연구를 통해 얻은 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 다문화 관련 멀티미디어 동화를 활용한 교육활동을 경험한 실험집단의 유아들은 통제집단의 유아들보다 다문화 인식 점수가 높았다. 둘째, 다문화 관련 멀티미디어 동화를 활용한 교육활동을 경험한 실험집단의 유아들은 통제집단의 유아들보다 친사회적 행동 점수가 높았다. 이러한 결과는 다문화 관련 멀티미디어 동화를 활용한 교육활동이 유아의 다문화 인식 및 친사회적 행동에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다는 것을 보여준다. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of educational activities utilizing multicultural multimedia pictorial fairy tales on children’s multicultural perceptions and prosocial behaviors. Guiding this study were two research questions: 1) What are the effects of educational activities that utilize multicultural multimedia fairy tales on young children’s multicultural perception? 2) What effects do such activities have on young children’s prosocial behavior? The participants consisted two groups of 20 four-year-olds from two childcare centers in Kyungki-do. One group served as the experimental group and the other as the control group. Children in the experimental group listened to multicultural multimedia pictorial fairy tales and performed related educational activities; the control group proceeded with the standard curriculum. Over six weeks, from October 22, 2012 to November 30, 2012, researchers conducted the experiment in twice-a-week sessions for a total of 12 times. The results of this study are twofold: First, the experimental group scored higher than the control group on multicultural perception. This result showed that educational activities utilizing multicultural multimedia fairy tales contributed positively to the development of multicultural perception among 4-year-olds. Second, the experimental group scored higher than the control group on prosocial behaviors, demonstrating that educational activities utilizing multicultural multimedia fairy tales positively affected the development of prosocial behaviors among 4-year-olds.
