This study had been carried out for automotive axial fan using three dimensional unsteady CFD analysis including shroud. The test and predicted result from steady state CFD analysis was compared with. It showed a very good agreement between test and the prediction of air flow rate. Two fans with different sweep angle showed quite different performance and noise level. Especially the overall noise of forward swept fan is lower 2 to 3 dB than straight blade fan with the same flow rate. To figure out where this difference came out three dimensional unsteady state CFD analysis was carried out for two fans. And the differences of flow characteristics between swept and straight blade was analysed. Also aero-acoustic calculation was performed in this paper using unsteady flow analysis result. Acoustic characteristics of two fans and differences between evaluation and analysis are presented.
