Fasciola is a common liver fluke of cattle or other herbivorous mammals in the world. Human fascioliasis is a rare entity involving of the liver and biliary tree with adult flukes. It infects the human who ingests the metace- rcariae through aquatic vegetation. The author experienced a women patient who suffered from neoplasm of liver in Daegu Korea. The surgically removed liver revealed helminthic eggs, which were identified as those of fasciola sp. The clinical history, pathological and parasitological findings of this case were described.

In the case of complete entrance blockage of the inner channel, the flow rate of the inner channel should be greater than 60% of normal condition in order to avoid a damaged condition of the nuclear fad. For this purpose, the pressure loss coefficient of a side orifice of bottom end plug was evaluated. The pressure loss coefficient were obtained through simulation analysis of single rod for the end plug. According to the blockage rate of the outer channel, flow pattern and pressure loss coefficient of the side hole were investigated

In nuclear reactors, it is important from the point of view of safety to provide adequate cooling of a fuel. Pressure drop and flow distribution are used as key factors. They were obtained by a numerical study of flow in a plate-type nuclear fuel assembly. In the top end fitting, effects of the sudden transition from the circular pipe to the rectangular duct and the fixing bar presence on the flow distribution in each channel were studied. The pressure drops along the assembly were compared with results of experiments.

For power uprate of Pressurized Water Reactor(PWR), a dual-cooled annular fuel is being developed in Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute(KAERI). The annular fuel rod is configured to allow the coolant flow through the inner channel as well as outer channel. Since the inner channel is isolated from the neighbor channels unlike the outer channels, an inner channel blockage is one of the principal technical issues of a dual-cooled annular fuel. As a hypothetical event, if the inner channel is completely blocked by the debris, the inner cladding may experience a rapid temperature increase because of no further coolant supply. To complement the entrance blockage of an inner channel a long end plug with side holes is conceptually suggested. The experiment is performed to estimate the flow rate through side holes at the side hole blockage event. In this paper, the inner channel flow rate by the side holes was measured and the loss coefficient of side holes was evaluated.

To estimate the prevalence for cervical cancer and the risk factors, 5,417 asymptomatic married women were screened from March, 1984 to December, 1990 in Taegu city. Of 5,417 examinees, 3,817 ( 70.46% ) were normal, 1,542 ( 28.7 4%) showed inflammatory change, 51(0.94%) dysplasia and 7(0.13 %) were carcinoma in situ or invasive carcinomas. The prevalence for abnormal finding(dysplasia, carcinoma in situ or invasive carcinoma) was 1,070 per 100,000 population. The prevalence for dysplasia was 940 per 100,000 and carcinoma in situ or invasive carcinoma was 130 per 100,000. Ageadjusted prevalence for abnormal finding adjusted with standard population of Taegu city was estimated to be 850 per 100,000. The prevalence for cervical cancer was significantly increased with age(P<0.05). The prevalence for cervical cancer was significantly decreased with age at marriage and educational level(P<0.05). The history of induced abortion and the number of pregnancies were significantly associated with cervical cancer(P<0.05), whereas, the number of parity was not. Age at marriage was significantly associated with cervical cancer after stratification on age (p<0.05). However, the education level, parity, induced abortion, number of pregnancies were not significant. Inflammation and human papilloma virus infection were associated with cervical cancer with odds ratio of 13.18(95 %, confidence interval 7.80--- 23.40) and 478.29(95%, confidence interval 196.80 --- 1,143.10), respectively. In conclusion, for early detection cervical cancer it should be recommended to perform mass cytological screening, in particular, for those women who have frequent cervical inflammation and for those women married before age of 20 should be recommended to have regular and periodic cytologic screening, starting at age of 25, for cervical cancer.

A dual-cooled annular nuclear fuel has been introduced for a significant increase in reactor power. The KAERI has been researching the development of a dual-cooled annular fuel for a power increase in an optimized PWR in Korea, OPR-1000. The pitch-to-diameter ratio of the annular fuel assembly is decreased in order to maintain the fuel amount ratio within the same assembly size as the solid fuel assembly. In the tight lattice rod bundle, a pressure loss for the rod friction may be definitely different from that in the conventional solid fuel assembly. In this study, the friction loss of the 4x4 or 5x5 bare rod bundles without the obstacles such as the spacer grids is measured for the pitch-to-diameter 1.08 and 1.35, respectively. The measured results are compared with the general correlations for the conventional rod bundle. CFD studies are performed to investigate the friction pressure loss for the simulated single rod geometry and the spacer grid effects in the rod bundle is estimated in the view of a friction loss for a rod.

A CFD analysis was performed to examine the inner channel blockage of dual-cooled fuel which has being developed for the power uprate of a pressurized water reactor (PWR). The dual-cooled fuel consists of an annular fuel pellet(UO₂) and dual claddings as well as internal and external cooling channels. The dual-cooled annular fuel is different from a conventional solid fuel by employing an internal cooling channel for each fuel pellet as well as an external cooling channel. One of the key issues is the hypothetical event of inner channel blockage because the inner channel is an isolated flow channel without the coolant mixing between the neighboring flow channels. The inner channel blockage could cause the Departure from Nucleate Boiling (DNB) in the inner channel that eventually causes a fuel failure. This paper presents the CFD simulation of the flow through the side holes of the bottom end plug for the complete entrance blockage of the inner channel. Since the amount of coolant supply to the inner channel depends on largely the pressure loss at the side hole, the pressure loss coefficient of the side hole was estimated by the CFD analysis. The CFD prediction of the loss coefficient showed a reasonable agreement with an experimental data for the complete blockage of both the inner channel entrance and the outer channel. The CFD predictions also showed the decrease of the loss coefficient as the outer channel blockage increases.

The effect of Ginseng extract was abserved by serum choline estrase activity in the copper CCl₄-poisoned rabbits, and the following results were abtained. 1. The administration of Ginseng powder. Ginseng water extract and Ginseng alcohol extract inhibits the decrease in the activity of choline esterase in comparison with control group. 2. The effect of Ginseng powder is more sustained than that of the other Ginseng water or alcohol extract quantitatively on the copper and CCl₄-poisoned rabbits.
Lithium Salt와 Zizyphi Spinosi Semen이 血淸 Total Cholesterol에 미치는 效果

The effect of the Ether Ext. of Zizyphi spinosi semen and Lithium chloride on the serum total cholesterol of rabbits was examined. The effect of the Ether Ext. of Zizyphi spinosi semen was treated by oral dose of the Ext. 1 g/kg per day to rabbits for 7 days. The effect of Lithium chloride was treated by oral dose 1 Meq/kg per 'day to rabbits for 7 days. The results obtained were summarized as follows; 1) The serum total cholesterol level of rabbits treated with Ether Ext. of Zizyphi spinosi semen showed high value than the control group, while it's level declined gradually of administration for a long times. 2) The serum total cholesterol level of rabbits treated with Ether Ext. of Zizyphi spinosi semen and Lithium chloride showed high value than the control group, while it's level declined gradually of administration for a long times. 3) The serum total cholesterol level of rabbits treated with Lithium chloride showed high value than the control group.
