In a gasoline engine with port injection system, the fuel behavior in the intake port has significant influence on the HC emission and the precise A/F control. That is to say, it is inevitable that the injection direction and behavior of fuel injected in the intake port have an effect on the generation of unbumed HC within a cylinder.<br/> In this paper, we visualize fuel behavior in the intake port using micro CCD camera synchronized with the stroboscope and investigate the fuel-film characteristics formed at the wall of intake port by processing image captured with VCR in the transparent intake port made of acryl.<br/> With these measuring methods, it was found that the fuel behavior and the formation of fuel-film in the intake port could be evaluated qualitatively. These results show that 2spray injector has a good response and minimizes the fuel-film in a DOHC gasoline engine.<br/>

This study describes the combustion characteristics of methance-air mixture with various equivalence retio and initial conditions of mixture in constant volume combustion chamber.<br/> Combustion characteristics of methane-air mixture such as combustion pressure, combustion temperature, and heat release were investigated by the measurement of combustion pressure and ternperature in the combustion chamber. The results show that maximum combustion pressure, gas temperature and rate of heat release have peaks at equivalence ratio of 1.1. Combustion duration is also the shortest at the equivalence ratio of 1.1 and it is shortened as initial mixture tempera ture increases.<br/>

In order to decrease fuel comsumption rate and emissions, lean burn engine which has equipped swirl control valve, is investigated experimentally on the test bench. Single cylinder engine was used to test the combustion and emission performance with 4 kinds of swirl valve. Decrease in the carbon monoxide, hydrocarbon and specific fuel consumption was shown at the lean condition, which means that a good choice of swirl valve on the given intake port geometry can be used to increase the combustion efficiency and lean limit.<br/>

In this paper, the fuel atomization effect of a spark-ignition engine on the lean burn characteristics is studied. The fuel atomization is enhanced by heating the inside of the intake manifold with electric heater. Several operating parameters including cyclic variation are expressed against the air-fuel ratio from the experimental results. The fuel atomization gives much influence on the combustion stability. As the intake manifold is heated, the combustion duration decreased and the value of COV in the lean region as well as in the theoretical equivalence ratio became smaller than of not-heated.
석탄화력 발전소 탈질설비 내 곡확산부의 공력 특성에 대한 수치해석적 연구

Numerical simulation has been performed to investigate the effect of the geometrical configuration of the curved-diffusing parts on the performance characteristics at the inlet of the catalyst layer in the DeNOx facilities. Application has been made to the existing SCR process in the large-scaled coal-fired power plants. The steady three-dimensional viscous flow fields with the proper turbulence model fitted to the flow characteristics were solved for three types of the duct shape. The numerical results showed that the type of Youngheong power plant is effective to improve the flow uniformity in the expense of the slight increment of the pressure losses.

The characteristics of combustion variation and combustion performance in a multi-point injection<br/> gasoline engine are investigated using experiments and theoretical simulation.<br/> In this study. the variations of combustion characteristics was analyzed by using the coefficient of<br/> variation and combustion characteristics of engine.<br/> The results of this work show that the variation coefficient of mean effective pressure and maximum pressure in cylinder are decrease with the increase of engine speed. The cycle variation of pressure characteristics and combustion rate of engine are also discussed.<br/>

The objective of present work is to investigate the performance characteristics of three-lobe Roots type supercharger for the applications of low-compression and high-expansion ratio gasoline engine. A performance test was conducted to obtain the drive power. volumetric efficiency. adiabatic efficiency and the influence of performance factors of supercharger. In order to analyze the supercharging characteristics. the experiments are made on operating parameters such as the supercharger speed. pressure ratio and inlet temperature on the supercharging performance of the Roots type supercharger. Based on experimental results. the drive power and now rate of supercharger increased with supercharger speed.<br/>

This paper presents the characteristics of the gas flow in the engine cylinder under various intake flow conditions. The single-ㄹrame particle tracking velocimetry(PTV) was applied to analyze the gas flow pattern and flow field in the cylinder. Effects of tumble intensifying valve(TIV), swirl intensifying valve(SIV), and one-valve deactivated condition on in-cylinder flow patterns were compared with the baseline engine under 600rpm motoring condition. In addition, tumble ratio was estimated with results of in-cylinder flow fields. Base on experimental results, the tumble ratio of in-cylinder flow field has the maximum value at the bottom dead center for the different four inlet conditions. In TIV condition, the tumble ratio is 1.35 times larger than that of baseline engine and I intake valve deactivated condition is effective to improve in-cylinder swirl motion
