        전북지방 오골계의 기생충감염 샐태조사

        In order to monitor the parasites 417 fecal samples were taken from ogol chicken in Chonbuk area, The isolation and identification of the parasites were determined by the fecal examination using the floatation and microscopical examination, respectively. The detection rate of the eggs and unsporulated oocysts from the feces was 47.7%(199 heads), in the concerns of complicated infection with single, double and triple were 36.6%(153 heads), 9.5%(40 heads) and 1.4%(6 heads), respectively. The parasites isolated were identified as eimeria spp from 115 heads, dermanyssus spp from 103 heads, ascaridia galli from 26 heads, pterolichus obtusus from 13 heads, capillana spp from 6 heads and heterakiss gallirarwn from 1 head, in order.

        한우에서 급성탄수화물 과식증에 의한 폐사 증례

        This case occurred following accidental consumptions of toxic levels of feedstuffs in the Korean indigenous cattle which were pregnant for 3-6 months. Grossly, poorly defined bluish coloration in the ventral sac of the rumen, reticulum and omasum was visible on the surface of the stomach. The severely affected ruminal walls were perforated and blood-tinged exudate was observed and death followed due to acute diffuse peritonitis. There were copious amount of porridgelike rumen contents, which has a distinct fermentative odor. The epithelia were easily wiped off and hyperemic in patch. Histopathologically, chemical rumenitis with neutrophilic infiltration and opportunistic fungal infection was evident in the mucosa and submucosa. Multifocal necrotic foci with fungal hyphae on the liver and severe congestion on the renal medulla were noted. There was no evidence of heavy metal and aflatoxin Bl in the suspected feedstuffs. This case was diagnosed as acute carbohydate engorgement in cattle.

        전북지역 종계에서 avian pneumovirus 및 reovirus 항체가 조사

        The ELISA titers to avian pneumovirus(APV) and avian reovirus(ARV) were surveyed to sera of 38 breeder farms(78 blocks, 1,560 hens) in Jeonbuk province during February to October, 2005. In APV, the positive ELISA were detected 36(94.7%) breeders, 71(91.0%) blocks, 1,057(67.8%) hens, and their S/P ratio was 1.940. Regionally, the positivity of 24 breeders farms in the Jeonju, Jeongeup, Namwon, and Jangsu were noted as 100%, whereas 85.7% in Iksan. The positivity to species such as Cobb(20), Ross(13) and Hanhyup-3(5), all of the breeding farms were detected as positive, 40(86.9%), 17(94.4%) and 14(100.0%) in blocks, 553(60.1%), 285(79.2%) and 219(78.2%) in hens, and their mean S/P ratio were 1.677, 1.769 and 2.254, respectively. The positivity of the breeders vaccinated with ARV, all of the 9 breeder farms(38 blocks) were noted as 100%, but 627(82.5%) in hens, and its mean S/P ratio was 1.273. Whereas nonvaccinated with ARV were 28(96.5%) in breeders farms, 38(95.0%) in blocks, 660(82.5%) in hens, and the mean S/P ratio was 1.612. In species which were vaccinated with ARV, 11 breeder farms(38 blocks) were noted as 100%, but 82.5% in hens, and their mean S/P ratio were 1.315. Whereas in nonvaccinated with ARV, 25(92.6%) in farms, 38(95.0%) in blocks and 660(82.5%) in hens were positive, and their mean S/P ratio was 1.532.

        도축 육계에서 뉴캣슬병 바이러스에 대한 혈중항체가 조사

        Hemagglutination inhibition(HI) titers of Newcastle disease(ND) were measured to investigate the vaccination times on three different species of broiler chicks in Chonbuk province. Each 330 of Cobb, Ross and White-semi broiler chicks were selected from 11 broiler farms. The primary vaccine were sprayed in hatchery at one day old chicks. Secondary and tertiary vaccine were used by drinking water at 7 to 24 days old chicks. The ND antibody titer were measured by HI from each different species of broiler chicks at the marketing date. Total average HI titers of Cobbs vaccinated with primary ones, secondary and tertiary ones were recorded 1.86, 1.52 and 2.76, respectively. The antibody titers were shown to 2.22, 2.13, 3.07 in terms of vaccination of Ross broiler chicks. They were also 2.56, 2.65 and 2.78 in terms of vaccination of White-semi broiler chicks. The value HI titer were not statistically different of all treatments. The results of this experiment suggested that HI titer of sera is scored less than defensive value of ND antibody titer at more than two times of vaccination.

        전주지역 애완견에서 심장사상충, 개선충 및 모낭충 감염실태 조사

        A survey on the prevalence of heartworms, scabies and demodicosis of 1,011 pet dogs in 5 animal hospitals Jeonju area was performed from June to October 2004. The result obtained from this experiment were summarized as follows; 1. The 1,011 pet dogs coming to help the animal hospital more than disease of pleonephritis 62(6.1%), enteritis 75(7.4%), dermatitis 62(6.1%), scabies 55(5.4%), heartworms 43(4.3%), tympanitis 41(4.1%), demodicosis 22(2.2%), gastritis 21(2.2%), fracture 9(0.9%), respectively. 2. The 307 examined pet dogs were heartworms antigen positive to 43(14.0%), Microfilaria 31(10.1%) and the kinds of mixed breeds 34 (antigen and Microfilaria 12), Jindo 19(antigen 7, Microfilaria 6), respectively. 3. Heartworms antigen positive of examined 34 pet dogs mean ages 4.3 and general blood cell count mean of WBC 20.5×103/㎣, RBC 61.3×106/㎣, HGB 6.27g/㎗, HCT 20.9%, PLT 13.0×103/㎣, MCV 33.2㎛3, MCH 39.4pg, MCHC 14.8g/㎗, RDW 280. 1%, MPV 9.2㎛3, respectively. but showed a few high normal value WBC, MCV, MCH and a low MCHC. 4. This experiment was 1,011 pet dogs to dermatitis 139(13.7%) of scabies 55(39.6%), demodicosis 22(15.8%), respectively.

        산란계 밀집지역의 산란저하성 질병에 관한 연구

        Newcastle disease(ND), infectious bronchitis(IB), low pathogenic avian influenza(LPAI) and fowl typhoid(FT) have been known as egg drop laying diseases because of the serious layer damage from mass zone layer. In this study, such egg drop laying diseases were investigated. To access this study, we performed to evaluate antibody titers in serum and isolated bacteria and virus from organs and feces on May, July and September in 2003. The distribution of ND from January to May, IB and LPAI from October to February of the next year, and FT from March to September were inspected by the question survey in 21 farms. ND revealed to be positive rates of 490 to 474(96.7%) in May, 510 to 506(99.2%) in July and 510 to 510(100%) in September with hemagglutination inhibition(HI) test. The mean antibody titers were 10.2, 9.9 and 10.2, respectively. With regard to IB, 484 out of 490 samples(98.7%) in May, 508 of 510(99.6%) in July and 509 of 510(99.8%) in September showed positive results and the mean antibody titers were gradually increased with 8.2, 9.0 and 9.4, respectively. According to HI test of LPAI, the positive results were shown in 442 of 480(92.1%), 394 of 494(79.8%) and 402 of 483(83.2%) in May, July and September, respectively. The mean antibody titers were decreased with 4.6, 4.3 and 4.0. The distribution of LPAI also elicited the positive rates of 480 to 475(99.0%) in May, 494 to 485(98.2%) in July, 483 to 472(97.7%) in September as determined by ELISA and the mean S/P ratio were 2.319, 2.557 and 2.380, respectively. Compared ELISA results with HI test of LPAI the positive results were 480 to 422(92.1%), 475(99.0%), 494 to 394 (79.8%), 485(98.2%) and 483 to 402(83.2%), 472(97.7%). Therefore, the positive rate determined by ELISA was higher than that of HI test with 6.9, 18.4 and 14.5%, respectively. When performed RT-PCR for ND using organ and feces samples, the pathotypes were detected 5(15.6%) in May, 2(5.3%) in July, 2(7.1%) in September but there is no samples showing positive band for LPAI. In attempt to isolate Salmonella gallinarum, bacteria were obtained from 4 cases(12.5%) in May, 9(23.6%) in July, 5(17.8%) in September. Thus the highest rate for isolation revealed to be shown in July. When evaluated the antimicrobial susceptibility to 18 isolated strains of S. gallinarum, bacteria were sensitive to trimethoprim/sulfamethox(61.1%), kanamycin(55.5%), ampicillin(55.5%) and amoxacillin/clavulanic acid(55.5%), cephalothin(50.0%), but resistant to penicillin(88.9%), streptomycin(88.9%), erythromycin(83.4%) and tetracycline(61.1%). According to HI test of ND and LPAI using captured 164 wild Korean tree sparrows(Passer nontanus), the positive rates were 47.6% and 57.3%, and the mean HI titers were 5.32 and 4.02, respectively. 71(43.2%) and 58(35.3%) in captured sparrows also showed more than 4 titers for HI test to ND and LPAI, respectively. However, the attempt for isolation of viruses failed in all samples.

        This study was conducted to investigate the similarity between hemagglutination inhibition (HI) test and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA), the HI titer and mean ratio S/P ratio) of avian influenza virus. To perform this study, the 1,457 sera of layers 21 farms in May, July and September, respectively. As a result of HI test, positive rates were 480 to 422 (92.1%) in May, 494 to 394(79.8%) in July and 483 to 402(83.2%) in September, and the mean antibody titer were 4.6, 4.3, 4.0 to 0.3 decreased, respectively. The positive rates by ELISA, 480 to 475(99.0%) in May, 494 to 485(98.2%) in July, 483 to 472(97.7%) in September, and the mean S/P ratio were 2.319, 2.557 and 2.380, respectively. The result of HI test and ELISA positive 480 to 422(92.1%), 475(99.0%), 494 to 394(79.8%), 485(98.2%) and 483 to 402(83.2%), 472(97.7%). Therefore, ELISA was shown more sensitive compare the HI titers.

        전염성기관지염 및 뉴캣슬병 백신을 접종한 육계에서 ELISA 및 HI 항체가 비교

        To compare of serum antibody titers using ELISA and HI, serum samples were collected from 100 breeders and their progeny 550 broilers. The breeders and broilers were vaccinated with infectious bronchitis (IB)- and Newcastle disease(ND)-viruses according to general vaccination program. The antibodies in serum samples against IB and ND viruses were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) using commercial ELISA kit and hemagglutination inhibition(HI) test. Geometric mean titer (GMT) of ELISA and HI titers were monitored from 1-day-old to 35-day-old broilers and compared to those of breeder chickens. The antibody titers of breeders vaccinated with IB virus showed 47,800, ELISA and 7.2, HI, respectively. Progeny chicks, 1-day-old, vaccinated with IBV showed high antibody titers than those of breed chickens. Those chicks were maintained protective antibody levels until 11-day-old. From 14-day-old, the antibody level decreased below protective levels. In ND, breeders serum antibody titers ELISA and HI were 30,200 GMT and 8.7 HI titer, respectively. On 1-day-old chicks, antibody levels was decreased to half in ELISA(16,270) compared with those of breeders, but HI titers was 7.4. Progeny broilers, protective antibody level was maintained until 14- day-old by ELISA, but at 11-day-old by HI titers. After then, ND antibody titer was continuously decreased underdefense level. These result indicated that the ELISA method be more sensitive than HI titration to detect serum antibody level for IBV and NDV.

        정읍지역 한우에서의 백혈병 항체가 조사

        Bovine leukosis is one of the important diseases in Korea because of economic losses, and this study was conducted to provide basic information for the control of the disease. A total of 2,104 sera were obtained from 491 farms and examined by commercial kit. In the seroprevalence of farms and heads, 71 farms out of 491 were seropositive (14.5%) and 119 heads were positive (5.7%) out of 2,104. In the areal distribution of seropositiveness, Soseong-myeon showed the highest rate (39.5%, 15/38 farms)and Yeongwon-myeon was the lowest (2.6%, 1/38 farms). By age, positive rate in the below of 1 year old cattle was much less than that in the over of 1 year old, namely, the former was 1.9% (3/161 farms) and the latter 20.6% (68/330 farms). According to the farm size, there was no significant difference among the size. However, the highest rate was shown in the farms having 50-99 heads, 23.2% (13/56 farms).

        전북지방 메추라기의 기생충 감염 실태조사

        In order to monitor the parasites, 635 fecal samples were taken from quail in Chonbuk area. The isolation and identification of the parasites were determined by the fecal examination using the floatation and microscopical examination, respectively. The detection rate of the eggs and unsporulated oocysts from the intestine and feces were 37.8%(240 heads). In the concerns of complicated infection, infection with single, double and triple were 43.4%(217 heads), 3.4%(22 heads) and 0.1%(1 heads), respectively. The parasites isolated were identified as eimeria spp from 205 heads, strongyloides avium from 36 heads and dermanyssus spp from 23 heads.
