Even for a robot cafe that aims for inexpensive coffee, in order to compete in the market, the quality of the extracted coffee must remain consistent like that of regular franchise stores. This paper explores relatively computationally efficient computer vision tools for evaluating the deterioration of coffee quality due to changes in maturity, freshness, temperature, and humidity. Experimental results show that, for all type of coffee ground prepared, the density of edge points obtained through canny edge detection and the rate of increase in non-uniformity characteristics obtained by applying LBP to the image pyramid were relatively higher for well-extracted coffee.
LBP 알고리즘의 하드웨어 가속을 위한 비교 연산 절감 방법

This paper proposes a method for reducing the number of comparison operations in the LBP algorithm. The method often omits the comparison operations for the current pixel utilizing the result of the comparison operations for the previous pixel. Performance evaluation results show that the computational reduction rate for textured images ranges 43.67∼44.15%, and for non-textured images, it ranges 26.28∼46.85%. This method can be utilized very usefully when designing a hardware accelerator for the LBP algorithm.
