분홍반 유아들의 일상적 "시" 짓기 활동에 관한 미학적 탐구

유아기의 시 짓기 활동은 언어 기술적 측면을 지나치게 강조하기 보다는 문학적 특성을 통해 시인의 감수성을 일상적으로 경험하는 것이 중요하며 이를 위해 정해진 시간에 단조로운 읽기와 감상을 넘어 일상성과 심미성이 강조되는 새로운 교수법이 요청된다. 본 연구는 유아들의 시 짓기 활동을 하루일과의 삶과 자연스럽게 연결하여 예술성을 강조하며 일상적으로 시 짓기 활동을 실천하고 있는 좋은 교수사례를 발굴하여 유아기 일상적인 시 짓기 활동이 일어나는 교수환경과 시 짓기 활동에서 드러나는 심미적 특성을 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 분홍반 만5세 유아 36명과 담임교사를 선정하여 비 참여 관찰을 하였고, 비디오 촬영과 심층인터뷰, 연구자 저널과 유아들의 창작시와 사진자료 등의 자료를 수집하였다. 수집된 자료는 주의 깊은 반복적 읽기를 통해 주제어를 도출해 내는 질적 연구 분석법이 이루어 졌다. 연구결과 분홍반 교실은 일상적인 시상의 유발과 지속, 미적 감흥을 촉발시킬 수 있는 아름다운 대상물로 가득 찬 심미적 교실환경을 가지고 있었고 그 속에서 교사와 유아는 일상적으로 시를 즐기고 있었다. 또한 일상적 시 짓기 활동의 미학적 특성으로는 아름다운 노랫말의 음미, 내러티브에 대한 미적 감동, 심미적 이미지의 유희 등으로부터 연결되는 시 짓기 활동과 같이 일상적으로 전개되는 다양한 교육활동의 예기치 않은 사태 속에서도 특별한 미적 대상과의 조우를 통해 시를 즐기고 창작하는 모습으로 나타나고 있었다. 이상의 결과를 통해 본 연구는 유아기의 시 짓기는 예술성과 심미성이 더욱 강조되는 다채로운 교수방법과 교수환경을 통해 보다 풍요로운 일상적 시 짓기를 즐기는 교사의 태도와 안목이 필요함을 논의하였다. A child writing a poem must to be able to experience the poet`s aesthetic sensitivity which soars beyond linguistic skill acquisition. To develop such aesthetic sensibilities, new teaching methods which break the conventional rhythms of traditional teaching methods are needed. This study examines the kind of environment and methods which meet children`s aesthetic needs. Thirty-six, five-year-old children and their teacher at H kindergarten in G city were observed for 16 weeks, interviews with the teacher were conducted and pictures of classroom settings and children`s art works were collected. A summary of their distinctive classroom culture includes our first impression of the classroom`s visual settings as beautiful and relaxed, filled with tiny natural objects, pastel-colored clothes, and collections of poetry and other art works, which evoked the children`s poetic inspiration and the children had plentiful opportunities to enjoy poems through daily routines such as ``poems for opening mornings`` and birthday celebrations. Poetry activities were integrated with various other related art activities such as singing songs, creating visual artworks, appreciating picture images, and telling invented stories in very natural ways within the daily routines. Most importantly, ample time was afforded the children to think, feel and imagine. Interviews with the teacher lead us to conclude teachers of writing poetry need strong positive attitudes toward poetry. Studies on how to encourage and support pre-service and in-service teachers` aesthetic sensibilities toward poetry in their everyday lives are recommended.
