In this study, the bending collapse behaviors of reinforced aluminum square tube beams by means of aluminum plates under three point bending loading have been evaluated. A finite element simulation for the three-point bending test has been performed. Three kinds of reinforced aluminum tube beam specimens were employed. The maximum bending load and the bending behaviors in the elastic region obtained from the numerical simulation were in good agreement with experimental results. After the maximum load, aluminum plate was separated from an aluminum tube beam. To predict energy absorption capability of reinforced tube beams, numerical simulation and Kecman theory were performed. An aluminum tube beam strengthened on the upper web by aluminum plate with a width of 20㎜ showed a good result.
