As frame-shear wall structures become taller, the lateral drift control, which has a great influence on not only the serviceability but also the safety of buildings, becomes one of the most important issues. Currently, a trial-error approach is performed based on the engineer's experience, repetitious analysis and re-design However, the trial-error approach may lead to an unsound design result Therefore, this study [resents the effective lateral drift control technique for lush-rise frame-shear wall structures by design sensitivity analysis. Also this study shows the method that optimizes the lateral load resisting system according to the given optimal criteria.
