The spool displacement signal is considered as the standard signal for measuring the dynamic characteristics of a servovalve. When the spool displacement signal is not available, the velocity signal of a cylinder piston can be used. In this study, the frequency response characteristics of a servovalve-piston system are investigated considering oil inertia. The transfer function and total mass equation of load are derived while considering the oil inertia in the transmission lines, and they are verified through computer simulation and experiments. The oil inertia in the transmission lines was found to have a large significant effect on the hydraulic natural frequency of a servovalve-piston system. When the inner diameters of the transmission lines are increased, the total mass of load is reduced by the oil inertia effect, and the hydraulic natural frequency is increased.
