In this study, we investigated the changes in the mechanical properties of porous polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) fabricated using salt particles as a function of mixing time. Compressive modulus measurements were performed through compression tests on porous PDMS samples prepared with varying mixing times, and the cross-sectional structures of these samples were observed under a scanning electron microscope. The results demonstrated an increasing trend in the compressive modulus with longer mixing times, suggesting that insufficient mixing did not allow for the uniform dispersion of particles within the PDMS, leading to larger and more uneven pore sizes in the final structure. Furthermore, the experiment indicated no significant changes in the compressive modulus or cross-sectional structure for mixing times exceeding 180 s. Therefore, under the experimental conditions, a mixing time of at least 180 s was necessary. This finding can serve as a reference for designing process conditions for the future fabrication of porous PDMS with the expectation of enhancing the uniformity and mechanical integrity of the material.
