목적 : 지모는 임상에서 해열, 항염, 진정, 이뇨 그리고 항당뇨 작용을 가지고 있어 한의학에서 청열자음의 목적으로 사용되어 왔다. 본 연 구는 생쥐 BV2 신경교세포에서 lipopolysaccharide에 의해 유발되는 염증유도산물인 PGs와 NO의 신경염증반응에 대한 지모의 효과를 살펴보기 위해 시행하였다. 방법 : 지모의 항염증 효과를 알아보기 위하여 lipopolysaccharide는 24시간 반응시키는 한편, 지모는 lipopolysaccharide 처치 1시간 전에 전처치 한 이후 reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), Western blot analysis, PGE2 immunoassay, NO detection 등의 분석방법을 사용하였다. 결과 : lipopolysaccharide는 cyclooxygenase-2 와 inducible nitric oxide synthase의 mRNA와 단백질의 발현을 증가시켜 prostaglandin E2 합성과 nitric oxide 생성을 증가시켰다. 지모를 전처치 하였을 때에는 lipopolysaccharide에 의하여 발현이 증가되던 cyclooxygenase-2와 inducible nitric oxide synthase mRNA와 단백질의 발현이 억제되었고 그 결과 prostaglandin E2 의 합성과 nitric oxide의 생성도 억제되었다. 결론 : 본 연구 결과, 지모는 여러 가지 염증성 질환에 진통 및 항소염 작용이 있는 것으로 보여진다.
숙지황(熟地黃)이 생쥐의 기아 Stress에 미치는 영향(影響)

Objectives : This study aimed to evaluate the effect of Rehmanniae Preparata on the stress induced by starvation on the change of the corticosterone, the rectal temperature and the contents of monoamines in the hypothalamus of mice. Methods : The four groups of experimental animals were starved for 36 hours after being administrated Rehmanniae Preparata with four different doses. Rehmanniae Preparata was administered 6 times before starting starvation. The corticosterone, rectal temperature and the contents of monoamines were measured after 36.5 hours starvation stress. Results : 1. The plasma corticosterone level was decreased statistically significantly (P<0.05) compared to control group in the group administrated 1.0g/kg of Rehmanniae Preparata. The level was increased statistically significantly(P<0.05) compared to control group in the group administrated 3.0g/kg of Rehmanniae Preparata. 2. The rectal temperature was increased compared to control group in the groups administrated 0.25 and 1.0g/kg of Rehmanniae Preparata. It was decreased compared to control group in the group administrated 0.5g/kg and 3.0g/kg of Rehmanniae Preparata. 3. The level of NE in the hypothalamus was increased in both control group and experimental groups, but there was no statistical significance. 4. The level of DA in the hypothalamus was increased compared to control group in the groups administrated 0.25, 0.5 and 1.0g/kg of Rehmanniae Preparata.5. The level of DOPAC in the hypothalamus was decreased compared to normal group in the groups administrated 0.5, 1.0 and 3.0g/kg of Rehmanniae Preparata.6. The level of 5-HT was increased statistically significantly(P<0.05) compared to control group in the group administrated 3.0g/kg ofRehmanniae Preparata.7. The level of 5-HIAA was decreased compared to control group in the groups administrated 0.5 and 1.0g/kg of Rehmanniae Preparata. It was increased compared to control group in the group administrated 0.25 and 3.0g/kg of Rehmanniae Preparata. Conclusion : This study shows that Rehmanniae Preparata is significantly effective on reducing the starvation stress generally, but if the dose of Rehmanniae Preparata is too high, it can increase the stress.

Objectives : KYUNGKUEN CHUNA is a kind of manipulation therapy which aims at the treatment of the soft tissue injury. The purpose of this study is to investigate the Oriental Medical literatures on KYUNGKUEN CHUNA. Methods : We surveyed the oriental medical books concerning KYUNGKUEN CHUNA. Result & Conclusion : KYUNGKUEN CHUNA is used for the treatment of the soft tissue injury. It can be classified as the wave-motion manipulations, rubbing manipulations and pressure manipulations.
체성 연관통(Somatic Referred Pain)에 대한 고찰

This paper describes possible mechanism of the somatic referred pain. The study of somatic referred pain mechanism is necessary because many patients suffer from several types of muscle pain. This review compares the somatic referred pain with MPS(myofacial pain syndrome). There are similarities between these two pain mechanisms. But the therapeutics of somatic referred pain is yet remain fully unknown. Therefore this review consider origin of variable referred pain. Also it is recommendable to study referred pain mechanism in terms with oriental medical pain concept.
폴리페놀 섭취가 Streptozotocin에 의한 당뇨유발 쥐의 운동 중 항산화 방어기전에 미치는 영향

Diabetes mellitus (DM) increased lipid peroxidation that causes many other diseases Exercise therapy is important factor to cure the patient of DM. Lipid peroxidation, however, is increased during exercise. In addition, oxidative stress is stronger to DM when do some kind of exercise. In this point of view, rats have injected 55㎎/㎏ of streptozotocin (STZ) into the tail-vein after 16 h of fasting. After 12 h of STZ injection, over 200㎎/㎗ of giucose concentration was defined as DM produced. Then exercise was performed on the treadmill at 27m/min for 5 min without training. GOT and GPT concentration was significantly increased in STZ-W rats. Glycogen content in liver was significantly decreased in MDA was significantly decreased in STZ-P group than STZ-W group. These results suggested that acute administration of polyphenol 1 h prior to exercise have antioxidative effect in STZ-induced DM rats.
