        Aircraft structures of which has been exposed for a long under operational, environmental condition already had been faced with severial potential problems such as new critical areas, corrosion, wide spread fatigue damage, Therefore the effects of those problems should be considered to extend structural life. Recently damage tolerance concept was changed with 'holistic damage tolerance' to included corrosion damages. These were reasons for what the resultant fracture occurred because of the formation and propagation of cracks from pits before and after coalescence and this is very important because there is a challenge to deal with not only with the individual pits but also to consider developing an estimation of pitting corrosion fatigue life of corrosion fatigue prone aircraft structural components with regard to multiple pit damage.

        It happened a failure on special bolt which supported main landing gear actuator up-lock rod of 00 aircraft. Fracture was occurred at end of center drilled hole and thread machined on bolt. Metallographic, fractographic, and other characteristics of embrittlement analysis and experiments carried out on the failed bolt to find out the reason. Bolt surface was cadmium electroplated(EP) to give lubrication and provide excellent corrosion resistance. Resultly, Bolt was failed due to cadmium embrittlement occurred during baking treatment as well as center drilled hole. for the failure that are relevant to failure analysis and prevention. For their successful functional application, cadmium EP bolts require proper and adequate baking treatment after electroplating, and is complete with no center drilled hole

        고강도 볼트 카드늄 취성파괴 사례연구

        It happened fractures on special bolt which supported main landing gear actuator up-lock rod of aircraft. Cracks were initiated mainly from the center hole and the external thread of the special bolt. To find out failure root causes, metallographic, fractographic analyses as well as test work were carried out. From the fractographic study by SEM work, fracture occurred by a brittle intergranular type failure. The fracture could be occurred primarily by solid-metal-induced embrittlement due to cadmium embrittler penetrated into the flaw existed after machining work for center hole and thread on the bolt during baking treatment processing to eliminate hydrogen. For its successful application, cadmium EP bolts require proper and adequate baking treatment after electroplating, and make no more drilled center hole on the bolt to prevent same failure.

        F-5E/F 외부 연료탱크 수평 핀 균열 분석 및 재설계

        본 논문에서는 마그네슘합금 재료로 제작된 F-5E/F의 외부 연료탱크 수평 핀의 균열발생 원인을 분석하고 적절한 대체 재질을 검토하여 탱크의 투하 안전성을 보장하도록 핀의 형상을 재설계하였다. 재료는 재료의 성질과 조달 용이성을 고려하여 강도 및 파괴인성이 기존재료보다 강하지만 핀 1개당 65%의 무게증가가 예상되는 알루미늄 합금 2024-T351을 선택하였다. 핀의 무게 증가로 인한 연료탱크 무게 중심의 후방 이동을 허용한계 이내로 유지하기 위하여 크기를 20% 축소하고, 두께 7 ㎜, 곡률 반경 8.5 ㎜로 설계된 핀에 대하여 정적 및 동적 응력을 해석한 결과 후방 체결부 및 체결 홀의 안전계수가 증가되었음이 확인되었다. In this work the replacement material for magnesium alloy was investigated and an optimized design was suggested for the horizontal fin of a fighter's external fuel tank. For the replacement of magnesium alloy, Aluminum alloy, AL 2034-T351, was selected by considering material properties and its procurement. The strength and fracture toughness properties of AL 2034-T351 are stronger than those of magnesium alloy, but the specific weight of AL 2034-T351 is heavier than that of magnesium alloy by 65%. To meet the allowable limit of C.G. shift in the tank, the design of horizontal fin was optimized by reducing the original shape by 20% and resizing the maximum thickness to 7 ㎜. From the results of the static and dynamic stress analysis for improving the safety factor of the joint section and the joint hole, the radius of curvature in the aft joint section of the new fin was designed as 8.5㎜.

        한국 친환경농업단지의 왕우렁이 월동 및 분포특성

        BACKGROUND: Recently, the golden apple snail, Pomacea canaliculata has been used as an environmentally-friendly weed-control agent in rice farming. Although effective for this particular style of farming, P. canaliculata can be destructive to other crops. The objective of this study was to identify overwintering as well as regional and seasonal distribution characteristics of P. canaliculata. Notably, winter is typically fatal for P. canaliculata. However, owing to increasing average global temperatures, we assessed the ability of P. canaliculata to survive through uncharacteristically warm winters. METHODS AND RESULTS: To examine the distribution and overwintering regions of P. canaliculata, We conducted a survey from April 2020 to May 2021 on environmentally-friendly rice fields, agricultural waterways, and streams in 23 cities belonging to 8 provinces. In addition, because air temperature may influence the distribution density of P. canaliculata, we analyzed the winter temperature data (http://weather.rda.go.kr). CONCLUSION(S): In 2021, overwintering of P. canaliculata (1-3 individuals/㎡) was observed in the Goheung and Yeongam regions in Jeonnam. Overwintering of P. canaliculata was observed in fewer regions in 2021 than in 2020; this fact may be attributed to the lower minimum temperatures measured in 2021 (approximately 8℃ lower) than those in 2020. Our results suggest that overwintering occurs as long as overnight temperatures are ≥ -15℃, but can take place if temperatures are as low as -19℃.

        동체 중앙에 연료탱크를 장착한 전투기의 섬광탄 운용 방안 연구

        본 논문에서는 센터 파일론에 150갤런 외부 연료 탱크를 장착한 전투기의 전술기동 중 섬광탄 운용의 문제점을 검토하고 운용 가능한 방안을 제시하였다. 섬광탄 발사시 투하궤적 및 외부 연료 탱크 수평 핀의 손상 범위를 풍동실험과 수치해석을 통해 분석하였다. 핀의 손상을 방지하기 위한 방안으로 1) 섬광탄 발사 각도를 조정하는 방안과 2) 핀의 형상을 변경하는 방안을 비교 검토 및 실용성을 분석한 결과 핀을 재설계하는 방안이 채택되었다. 풍동실험을 통하여 재설계한 수평 핀을 장착한 외부 연료 탱크의 투하 안전성을 평가하였다. In this paper, we examined the problems of the flare operation of tactic maneuvering flight of fighter aircraft with 150GL center external fuel tank and proposed the possible solution of its operation. The damage scope of horizontal fin of fuel tank and flare trajectory when the flare ejected from the maneuvering aircraft were analyzed by the wind tunnel test and the numerical analysis. We investigated the two different option to avoid the damage of fin; i) the adjustment of flare dispenser angle and ii) the change of horizontal fins shape. For the considering of practical operation of present system, we chose the second option. We estimated the drop safety of external fuel tank with redesigned fin by the wind tunnel experiments.
