IEC 61850 substation automation consists of a various of IEDs for protection and control of the substation, a few HMIs based on IEC 61850 SCL engineering and a Gateway for the communicative protocol conversion. Currently, most of the test types applied to the system are limited to the functional tests such as IEC 61850 conformance test and protective operation. However, It is necessary to develop a new testing system for fully verifying its systemic operation. This paper describes the design of Script loader for constructing substation automation testing automation.

The more a new and automatic technology for information and network system is applied in power system to handle the massive data processing, the more a reliability and robustness of these system are needed in modern power grid. Consequently, a necessity of new procedure for testing and performance verification of applied SA system become increase and it is focused whether the new developing procedure should consider the whole substation system at the same time. In this paper, we focused on development of testing and performance verification system in SA system from development aspects. In addition, a combined testing script is designed to verify the performance of SA system interconnecting an input/output control equipment, network load generator, voltage/current control unit using script loader based on UML (Unified Modelling Language). Finallv. various simulation results are shown considerinz new procedure.

As the smart grid becomes a new paradigm of a power system, IEC 61850-based SAS is expected to play a key role in the smart grid and KEPCO has planed to construct IEC 61850 based substation automation system for all domestic substations since 2012. Accordingly, KEPCO is considering to adopt a new testing method against the limitation of the current legacy testing method. This paper presents the development of the IEC 61850 traffic analysis interface module for constructing the SAS test automation system.
