In the electric power industry, grid connection of renewable power is becoming a big topic. There are various factors to consider in order to operate the system stably. Among them, in terms of reliability, it is important not to break the supply stability of the existing system. In the case of photovoltaic facilities there are parts connected to the system through PCS (power conversion system). If this PCS facility fails, the PV operator cannot generate power and it acts as a loss. From the perspective of the system operator, it is necessary to prevent the spread to other systems than the connected system. Therefore, there is a need to evaluate the reliability of this PCS system. In general, the reliability evaluation of each system facility is calculated through a statistical technique by applying a probabilistic method. Based on this, reliability evaluation was conducted for inverters that play the most important functional role in the PCS system. Existing reliability evaluation is based on failure history data and calculates failure rates that vary with time by identifying failure distributions through Weibull analysis. However, it is difficult to apply the technique due to the lack of failure history data in PCS. In this paper, based on the design life data, the failure distribution was confirmed. Then, an acceleration coefficient that reflects the actual operating conditions and test conditions was calculated and applied to the design life and the time scale was adjusted.
