학습자가 이해한 시민교육의 의미 탐색: d시의 시민단체 학습자를 대상으로

시민은 교육을 통해 성장한다. 교육을 통해 성장한 시민들은 민주시민사회를 만드는 주역이 된다. 시민교육은 삶에 밀접한 지식이며, 다른 교육과 마찬가지로 시민교육도 학습자들이 이해하는 수준을 파악하는 과정이 필요하다. 본 연구의 목적은 시민단체의 학습자들이 이해하는 시민교육의 의미를 알아보고자 한다. 연구문제는 학습자들이 이해한 시민교육의 정의와 의미는 무엇인가? 시민교육의 필요성은 무엇이고, 시민교육을 통해 어떤 변화를 경험하였는가? 시민교육의 가치는 무엇이고, 시민교육을 통해 이루고자 하는 교육의 보편적인 가치는 무엇인가? 이다. 연구 대상은 d시의 한 시민단체에 참여하는 학습자이며, 연구방법으로는 의미 분석을 하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 시민교육은 지식의 확장을 통한 개인의 성장, 세상의 다양한 변화 이해, 대화와 나눔을 통한 대인 관계의 향상, 공동체 형성과 가치 공유, 현재와 미래를 위한 준비과정, 학교교육에서 부족한 것에 대한 채움을 의미하였다. 이는 자기 성찰을 위한 지혜 탐구, 삶을 바라보는 진지한 태도, 의미 있는 삶 추구, 건강한 공동체 발전을 위한 노력, 교육을 통한 민주사회 건설 추구, 지속적인 배움의 욕구 표출을 의미한다. 본 연구의 가치는 학습자의 경험을 통해 시민교육의 의미를 탐구했다는 것에 있다. Citizens grow through education. Citizens who have grown through education become the main players in creating democratic civil society. Citizens education is closely related to life, and it is important to understand the level of education that learners understand. The purpose of this study is to investigate the meaning of citizen education that citizen education learners understand. Research problems are as follows: What are the definitions and meanings of civic education understood by learners? What is the need for civic education and what kind of changes have we experienced through civic education? What is the value of civic education, and what is the universal value of education that civic groups want to achieve? The study subjects were learners who participated in a civic group at d city. Research method is semantic analysis. As a result, civic education means Individual Growth through Expanding Knowledge, Understanding the various changes in the world, Improvement of interpersonal relations through dialogue and sharing, Community formation and value sharing, Preparations for present and future, Fill in the lack of school education. This was interpreted as Exploring wisdom for self-reflection, A serious attitude toward life, Meaningful pursuit of life, Efforts to promote healthy communities, The pursuit of democratic society through education, and the need for constant learning. It is value of this study lies in exploring the meaning of civic education through the experience of learners.
