In the present study, a numerical analysis to predict the flow characteristics inside a vessel was investigated for various geometric factors of impeller blade. In order to predict the mixing phenomena, rotating motion of impeller to form the flow field, were simulated by using the technique of multiple reference frames (MRF). For evaluation of the geometrical influence on the mixing performance, the numerical simulations were performed for various ratio of blade length and impeller radius. The improvement of the mixing performance was investigated by using pumping effectiveness and circulation efficiency number depending on various impeller shape. From the results, it was observed that mixing phenomena is mainly determined by power number. In addition, the ratio of blade length and impeller radius showing better mixing performance was induced. The results in present study can be used for the design of the stirred vessel with turbine blade in the various mixing industrial fields.
