In this study, an oil pump was newly designed to improve the line pressure drop of the middle and large-sized automatic transmission at high ATF temperature and low engine speed condition using optimization technique. Through S/N ratio and mean analysis, the design factors were decided. The newly designed oil pump showed better performance in the view of flowrate and efficiency.
무단변속기(CVT) 벨트-풀리의 변속비 및 마찰계수에 관한 실험적 연구

CVT(Continuously Variable Transmission) has been widely accepted in a compact-car and HEV since it can improve both fuel economy and driving performance simultaneously. CVT with metal belt transmits the engine power through its belt-pulley, so belt should not slip and operate in optimal way. Consequently the accuracy of the friction coefficient between belt and pulley is very important. In this paper, the relation between the speed ratio and pulley thrust ratio is investigated by simulation and experiment. Moreover, the friction coefficient between belt and pulley is measured by the belt-pulley test rig. With this data, optimum belt clamping force can be calculated to improve efficiency and fuel economy.
[동력전달계부문] R-R CHART에 의한 자동변속기 파워트레인 분석

A new point of view in automatic transmission is proposed by R-R CHART, which is a new analytic method based on the principle of planetary gear and gear shift mechanism. This paper shows that R-R CHART is unique in 4 speed automatic transmission with fixed compound planetary gear sets.<br/> As a result of the application of R-R CHART, this paper classifies the fixed compound planetary gear sets with 4 elements into 12 sets and gear shift mechanism into 3 types. Also, this paper derives 4 R-R characteristic equations as a correlation between gear ratios in 4 speed automatic transmission.<br/>

In this paper, an optimization process for a torque converter performance using design for six sigma is presented. An optimization is performed to improve the fuel economy and drive performance of vehicle by optimizing torque converter capacity factor Cf. To optimize Cf curve, L18 orthogonal array is used for experiments design and 8 control factors and 4 noise factors are selected. The fuel economy and drive performance results are found from the vehicle performance simulation. After the normalizing and indexing of simulation results, the optimum torque converter Cf is deduced. Torque converter which can realize an optimum performance is designed by CFD analysis. The result shows that fuel economy can be improved by the optimization process.

This paper describes the generic controller named BenchPack which consists of ActualLookⓡ and ZeConⓡ for automatic transmissions. ActualLook is a dynamic power train simulation program to predict the effect of control logic and parameters and ZeCon is a control logic designer for simularion and experiment. Generally, control logic development needs the special equipment and a long period. However, using BenchPack, we can easily develop the new control logic in PC base without special tools. In order to control transmission in a BenchPack with the same period of TCU, CAN is used as a communication protocol between controller and C 167 microprocessor. As a result, it is possible to develop the new control logic using BenchPack, experimentally and analytically.<br/> <br/>
