A speed of a train is controlled by Automatic Train Control system and the continuous transmission system provide the speed related information in the Korean High Speed Line. The primary objective of this paper is to measure the level of continuous signal and to calculate the message of that signal. A measuring equipment is introduced and the equipment provide the base line of the level of current and the correction information of the message.

This study analysis the current level of the Korea High Speed Line by mathematical model of the rail and compensation capacitors. The rail and compensation capacitors are represented by transmission parameters and the analysis is processed by computer simulation.

As computer-based train control system became used widely reliability and safety assessment of the computer is getting more important. A fault on a computer can cause a malfunction of train control system and this can lead an accident. So where reliability and safety is highly required TMR is used. In this paper the method of data sharing and voting for TMR processing is proposed designed and verified.

ERTMS/ETCS is a signalling and control system designed for interoperability between railway networks. In this paper, SysML was used for modeling of the ERTMS/ETCS trackside system. We used use case diagrams and sequence diagrams for requirements analysis and functional analysis. By doing this, we could show that main functions of the ERTMS/ETCS trackside can be described and verified based on scenarios.

In this paper, an AF track circuit receiver which is using DSP technique is designed and tested in the Lab. and field. The receiver detects of a train and operates the track relay to inform this occupation to ground equipments. Basic algorithms, digital filters, FM demodulation and DFT are simulated by computer and applied to the receiver. The test of receiver is processed under the LAB condition and the field. Results of the test shows that the response time is less than 500ms. This paper presents that the receiver has good maintenance and less variation of device characteristics and is applicable to the Korea High Speed Line.

This paper describes the calculation and application of the speed profile for the train speed control when the train is operated by ATO(Automatic Train Operation). We propose a speed profile calculation method considering the speed limitation and the jerk limitation, in order to maintain the quality of the train automatic operation. In previous works, ATO calculates a desired speed profile along the time, and controls the train to follow the profile. In this case, it may be hard to follow the restrictive speed along the location or to stop the train with a low location error, because of the difference between the desired location at each time and the real location of the train due to the control error. In the proposed method in this paper, we calculate a desired speed profile along the time considering the speed and jerk limitation first, and derive a speed profile along the location using it. If the restrictive speed profile is changed or the train speed strayed from the speed profile, ATO system calculates new speed profile and applies it immediately. Because ATO system controls the train speed based on the train location, the accuracy of the train location control can be improved. A simulation system for the test of the automatic train operation using this method is designed

A signal system is critical point of transport capacity and train operation in urban rail transit. Today the moving block system by radio is taking place of the fixed block system by track circuit for efficiency and short headway in underground railway and right rail transit. In this study, assuming specification of a train, track and control system, the minimum headway on the moving block system and the fixed block system is researched for the maximum transport capacity.

In this paper, we propose a UML modeling of ATO on-board software. An automatic train operation (ATO) system is a real-time control system, which operates a train without a manual operation by a driver. For the safe and comfortable service, real-time embedded software for ATO on-board equipment should have both of high performance and reliability. UML-based object-oriented modeling technique is introduced and used widely to design software that satisfies this requirement. We used Rhapsody, which is a modeling tool for real-time embedded software, to model the construction and the behavior of ATO on-board equipment. As a result, ATO on-board software which performs the profile calculation and the real-time speed control is designed and implemented. The brief modeling result including behavioral characteristics and the simulation results are presented.
