Tuberculosis is an infectious granulomatous type of chronic disease and occurs mostly in lungs but it may be disseminated elsewhere in the body by direct extension, blood vessels or lymphatics. Oral tubercular lesions generally develop secondary to pulmonary disease and primary localization in the mouth is extremely rare. The differential diagnosis of an oral tuberculosis lesions includes malignancy, various types of stomatitis, syphilis and mycotic infections. Treatment consists of a combination of surgical excision of diseased tissue when indicated with chemotherapy. This is a case of tooth socket and skin lesions secondary to advanced pulmonary tuberculosis by direct extension and we obtained good results by surgical excision and antituberculous medications consisted of isoniazid, rifampin, streptomycin and ethambutol hydrochloric acid.

Cysticercosis is the infection with Taenia Solium which the larvae invade to various organ and tissue, and develop in the soft tissue into small cyst. Preferentially settling in the subcutis or the muscle, the larvae grow to form cystic nodules under the skin and it is only when a vital organ such as the brain or the eye, is affected that serious complications will appear. Oral lesions of Cysticercosis Cellulosae are exceedingly rare. Apart from instances of vital organ involvement, the cutaneous or the oral lesions largely remain asymptomatic and surgical excision is called for cosmetic reasons. We wish to describe a patient with Cysticercosis in whom multiple lesions were present on the subcutaneous tissues of the hand and the trunk, the brain as well as in the oral cheek mucosa. Praziquantel therapy for cerebral and subcutaneous cysticercosis was performed after establishment of definitive diagnosis with excisional biopsy of the oral lesion.

A new role of chemotherapy is induction chemotherapy prior to definitive therapy in the advanced stage Ⅲ, Ⅳ squamous cell carciomas which are not well controlled with surgery and/or radiotherapy, as the initial treatment program. The purpose of this case report is an introduction of induction chemotherapy with cisplatin, vincristine and bleomycin, radical surgery and radiotherapy, as the combined modality treatment protocol used in our hospital.

The ranula is a form of a retention cyst which specifically occurs in the floor of the mouth in association with the duct of the submaxillary or sublingual gland. The simple ranula, which results from the obstruction of ducts, is a true retention cyst of the numerous salivary glands that lie in the submucosal layers of the lining of the oral cavity. The plunging ranula, which produced by the mucous extravasation mechanism, extends beyond the mucous membrane of the oral cavity into the floor of the mouth and into the fascial planes of the neck. Plunging ranulas provide a greater challenge in both diagnosis and treatment. We experienced a case of the plunging ranula from the floor of the mouth and the base of the tongue, and are going to report dealing with a literature review.

Temporomandibular ankylosis is an extremely disabling condition from the view point of function, hygiene and cosmetic appearance. The major etiologic factors of temporomandibular ankylosis are trauma and infection and it may affect general health and mental status and may make oral hygiene and dental care impossible. The earlier the ankylosis, the greater is the deformity of the face. The deformity occurs due to the physical damage to the growth center of the condyle and loss of functional movements of the mandible, which stimulates its growth. Tomograms and panoramic radiographs are invaluable diagnostic aids and scintigram and EMG were also used for diagnosis. This is a case of unilateral TMJ ankylosis associated with mandibular micrognathia in a 16 year old Korean man, which is corrected by arthroplasty with acrylic resin implant and horizontal advancement genioplasty. On postop. 3rd day, mechanotherapy was begun using the prefabricated acrylic splint with screw for mouth opening. Postoperative results were good both functionally and esthetically.
