In this paper, we carried out the frequency analysis for the duct plate of the IPB duct cooler so as to examine the cause for the crack at a edge of the duct. It was a resonance that a acoustic frequency met with the excited force by turbulent flow of air. Because of high vibration by the resonance, the edge of the cooler duct is cracked. We changed the structure of this cooler to improve air flow, strengthened the edge of the duct, and supported cooler head. As a result of the improvement, the resonance vanished, the crack didn't appear from now on.

In this paper, we analyzed the characteristic of the broken section for bolts fastening the generator casing. According to the frequency analysis, we grasped the characteristic of the excited force, traced the path of the exciting source so that we examined a factor of transient vibration of the generator casing. By solving troubles of the generator rotor, we reduced the vibration amplitude to the normal condition. Even if it appears transient vibration again, we applied spring washer, more tensile bolt to prevent the fracture.
