야마시타다이스케 ( Yamasita Daisuke ) 한일군사문화학회 2011 한일군사문화연구 Vol.12 No.-
This research aims to explore a Christian primary and secondary schools in Sabah, Malaysia through collaborative observations by a Korean and Japanese language teachers. The author, a Japanese language teacher sent his former student to Malaysia and he served as a Japanese language teacher for the school for 16 months in 2010 and 2011. In the process of conducting this program evaluation, the author realized the possibility of drawing a unique ethnography with a "thick description", because he kept his diary during his stay in Sabah. The author employs his multi-cultural theory, called "3D Triangulation" and attempts to analyze the diary in association to an interview with the Korean teacher. This result illuminates that the collaborative observations are able to highlight more different aspects of the Malaysian school culture in comparison to the one from a single culture. Now the world requires more multi-national forces to operate like United Nation`s Peace Keeping Operations. The author emphasizes that the ethnography drawn by multi-cultural observers would be more useful to accomplish the missions in such circumstances through understanding the culture in the mission fields.
