인간의 모든 신체를 대상으로 하는 바디아트는 미적 표현을 넓히는 새로운 예술이 되었는데, 이런 의미에서 볼 때 바디아트의 일부분인 핸드아트 또한 한 영역으로 자리 잡고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 학문적, 예술적으로 창의적인 디자인 개발을 원동력으로 보다 발전된 핸드아트의 영역을 확대하고, 관련 분야에서 교육자료 및 전문 분야에 실무 자료를 제공하고자한다. 연구방법과 범위는 세계적으로 유명한 핸드아티스트는 ‘마리오 마리오티’와 ‘귀도 다니엘’의 작품을 중심으로 사람, 동물, 식물, 사물로 분류하여 상징적 접근에 따른 핸드아트의 작품을 비교, 분석하고자 한다. 분석결과는 ‘귀도 다니엘’은 주로 동물, 식물, 사물을 상징적 접근하여 표현하였고, ‘마리오 마리오티’는 동물, 사람을 상징적 접근하여 표현하였다. 얻어진 결과를 바탕으로 결론 및 제언을 내리면 다음과 같다. 첫째, ‘귀도 다니엘’은 손 골격의 움직임을 이용하여 기발한 아이디어로 사실적이면서 생동감과 생생함이 느껴지게 그려냈고, 손과 손가락의 다양한 포즈와 디테일 점, 선, 면을 다양하게 활용해 실감나게 표현하였다. 둘째, ‘마리오 마리오티’는 동물의 상징적 접근은 기교적이기 보다는 이미지를 단순화시켜 유희적으로 표현하였고, 주로 손가락으로 사람의 머리, 눈, 코, 입, 팔, 다리의 동작들을 유희적으로 묘사한 것을 알 수 있었다. 이상과 같이 두 핸드아티스트 모두 화려한 채색을 기본으로 다양한 움직임과 손가락 마디와 주름 등을 이용해 표현한 핸드아트는 단순하게 페인팅의 수준이 아닌 하나의 예술로 승화시켰다는 것이 주목할 만하다. 국내에는 이탈리아의 두 핸드 아티스트들처럼 작품 활동을 하는 사람이 부족한 현황으로 나아가 우리나라의 정서에 맞는 문양이나 꽃 등 상징적인 모티브로 활용한 핸드아트를 기대해 본다. Body art, which targets all parts of human body, has become a new art that expands aesthetic expressions. In this sense, hand art, which is a part of body art, is also becoming a part of it. The purpose of this study is to expand the area of hand art with the development of academic, artistic and creative design and to provide practical materials for education and specialized fields. The method and scope of the research are to compare and analyze mainly the works of Mario Marioti and Guido Daniel who are famous throughout the world by dividing them into human, animal, plant, and object. The result of analysis shows that Guido Daniel expresses animals, plants, and objects in a symbolic approach and Mario Marioti expresses animals and people symbolically. Based on the results, conclusions and suggestions are as follows. First, Guido Daniel uses the movement of the hand skeleton to draw a realistic, lifelike and vivid feeling with a novel idea, and expresses various poses, detailed points, lines and planes of hands and fingers. Secondly, Mario Marioti expresses the symbolic approach of animals in a playful manner by simplifying the image rather than being skillful. It can be understood that he expressed the movement of human head, eyes, nose, mouth, arms and legs in a playful manner. As mentioned above, it is noteworthy that both the hand artists made various works based on luxurious coloring. They used the various movements, finger joints and wrinkles to make it a new art not just simply painting it. In Korea there aren’t many artists like the above two Italian hand artists. It is expected to see hand arts with the motif of patterns and flowers that meet Korean emotion.
