Recently, GPS device is used in various industries. GPS can calculate a moving train"s velocity, location, and direction. In this paper, we examine a train approaching alarm device"s application, possibility, and merits in the train system. Especially, we investigate solubility of trouble caused by using GPS and RF system for detecting the train"s velocity, the location and direction recognition.

Electro-magnetic clutch which is affected by elements of electric, magnetic and mechanical friction is important that it has a characteristic changes by environmental impact. Expecially, it is equipped in railroad sideway which is bleak external environment. Therefore, this paper investigated affections by temperature changes, which can make out through physical characteristics such as friction torque, minimum slipping torque, rated slipping torque of electro-magnetic clutch.

The neural network control algorithm is frequently applied to lots of field these days. Especially, hydraulic system has many nonlinear characteristic like leakage, friction, and compression of fluid. Therefore, the application of neural network in nonlinear control has a lot of advantage.<br/> This paper proposes a method to control position of hydraulic servo system using PID controllers by neural network identifier. The results are illustrated to show effectiveness of the present method through simulations.<br/>

AT-PASS(Access Train -Portable Access Signal alarm System) which is used at railroad sideway has an important effect upon geography. Especially, it is used at railroad which is a particular condition, tunnel, curve sections and electric car line sections. Therefore, this paper investigated an affection though field test of railroad which is a particular condition.

GPS type portable-alarm-system is composed of satellite receiving equipment, signal transmission equipment, etc. Time errors occur because of the processing methods of the satellite receiving equipment and signal generator, the positional error of GPS itself, etc. With the recent rise of train speed, it becomes very important to secure the stability of portable-alarm-system from time errors. The present study estimated errors caused by the structure of portable-alarm-system, GPS errors, etc., and verified them. In addition, it examined the effects of such errors on portable-alarm-system according to train speed.

Platform screen dorr (PSD) is equipment composed of screens and doors on the platform of subways or light trains, separating the platform from the railroad. The equipment is opened and closed in connection to the doors of carriages. In order to operate the system safely, it is important to understand the characteristics of key parts. There are many parts and environmental factors such as voltage, current and temperature change but the present study measured the change rate of torque and energy changes according to the temperature of the driving motor and analyzed the characteristics of the changes and examined the features of a motor required for stable PDS and the conformability of control programs.

As a method of confirming light flickering, we tried to confirm the flicker index measured by Flickermeter and the application possibility by using digital intensity of illumination meter. Also, after simulating the quality deterioration of electric power and generating a various voltage change, we studied on the function between the flicker index measured by Flickermeter and the flicker index for the intensity of illumination by using digital intensity of illumination meter.

A portable train approaching warning device can be used in order to reduce accidents of the workers on the rail, who are working without recognizing the approaching train, and to secure the safety of the workers. It can be installed in the train so that workers can recognize the approaching train. However, it is not easy to identify the location of the train precisely. In this study GPS and RF devices, which are used to calculate the location of the train were reviewed, to see how much error tolerance they have in the field, to analyze the distance for normal transmission between the receiver and transmitter, to verify the conformity of the portable train approaching warning device developed as a prototype model to the current rail system, and to provide the related fields with the analysis results to improve the existing or application technology. Additionally, test methods to locate the train were introduced and each test result was compared and analyzed.
