This study is aimed at offering basic data for enhancing the organizational structure and productivity of on-site construction management (CM) employees. To accomplish the objective, the organizational operation system and employee evaluation of domestic CM companies were analyzed by site scale to promote efficient operation. The findings are as follows. First, in terms of CM workforce, the employees handling architecture, electricity, and machines represented the highest proportion. As for qualification, top engineers were dispatched to both large-scale and small-scale CM sites more than any other employee. Second, the results on CM organizational productivity are as follows. The per capita sales increased as the service payment increased. In terms of scale, the site worth less than a billion won had per capita sales of 76 million won, about 5 times less than the site worth 5 billion won or more whose per capita sales were 371 million won. The monthly per capita sales also increased as the service payment increased. However, the difference was minimal, about a half of the difference in per capita sales. These findings would be useful for companies that have no systematic criteria for CM organization selection and evaluation.

This study was conducted with the pupose of analyzing changes in the image of the construction industry by target and presenting improvement measures. However, this study has failed to present changes in image by detail target and consequent improvements, and has limitations in failing to conduct extensive research on several developed country cases. Therefore, we will conduct studies that complement the limitations of this study, and additionally conduct insufficient surveys due to Covid-19.

This study aims to investigate the supply and demand status and structure of construction engineers within the construction industry, identifying factors influencing supply and demand and proposing policy improvements to address future imbalances. Findings indicated that the aging trend among construction engineers will persist, compounded by a decline in the school-age population, potentially leading to a shortage of young construction engineers. The importance analysis highlighted the significant impact of factors such as construction investment, productivity, order environment, and job prospects on supply and demand. Recommendations include increasing construction investment, establishing appropriate input standards for construction engineers, implementing a wage payment confirmation system, introducing innovative welfare measures, and improving the industrys image as a high-value-added one.

Daily construction work reports is an important mean to collect productivity information involved in enacting and/or revising Construction Standard Production Unit System (CSPU), which has been used as an estimation manual for calculating the prices of public construction in Korea. However, the daily reports used by specialty contractors that perform the actual work at construction sites have different formats depending on subcontractors. Because the degree of understanding and utilization of the daily work reports formulated by specialty contractors are different, it decreases the reliability and accuracy when it is used as a source for enacting and/or revising CSPU. Succinctly, it cannot be used for collecting important work productivity data. This study develops and provides a standard data attributes and data structure for the daily work reports for specialty contractors. It examines the current state of the daily work reports used by them, identifies issues involved in using the daily work reports, and proposes a specific solution for these issues so that the daily work reports can be effectively formulated depending on the construction type in which the specialty contractors are involved and can be used as a valuable information source for enacting and/or revising CSPU.

This study aims to assess job stress levels among construction engineers in various construction industries and propose strategies for reducing job stress to enhance their future work efficiency. First, a quantitative methodology was developed for evaluating job stress among construction engineers in each industry. After analyzing job stress based on this methodology, the results indicated that designers in design firms and engineers in construction firms experienced relatively lower job stress. Most construction engineers reported various physiological effects such as headaches, fatigue, and shortness of breath due to job stress. They also mentioned psychological effects like anger, frustration, nervousness, and excitement, along with a decline in individual work efficiency and job satisfaction. To alleviate job stress among construction engineers in the future, companies should proactively identify tailored job stress relief programs and make substantial financial investments at the organizational level.
