This research aims at proving the differences in soteriology through comparing between Youngsan and Wesley. Youngsan’s holistic soteriology is a Trinitarian soteriology. In the doctrine of Threefold Blessing, we can observe the good God and Jesus the Christ who ransomed our iniquities, and the Holy Spirit who is now guiding us to Jesus the Christ and the Father. Wesley’s soteriology is a pneumatological soteriology. Wesley’s theology consists of soteriology which puts great emphasis on the doctrine of sanctification. The ground of the doctrine of soteriology is pneumatology. Wesley’s doctrine of sanctification is rooted in the strong faith of the work of the Holy Spirit within us. Wesley indicates that the Holy Spirit is the principle of all the holy and the good in human beings in the process of sanctification. Wesley focuses on the Holy Spirit who makes us experience the completion of sanctification. He aims at the Christian perfection (sanctification) throughout his life that is possible only through the Holy Spirit. In dealing with soteriology, Youngsan is Trinitarian and Wesley is pneumatological in essence. The respective soteriologies can be differentiated from each other in the goal of salvation. Youngsan aims at actualizing Threefold Blessing; Wesley aims at sanctification. The two theologians agree in the work of the Holy Spirit in completing salvation. However, Wesley puts emphasis on the work of the Holy Spirit within the traditional doctrine of the Trinity. On the contrary, Youngsan puts more emphasis on the independent work of the Holy Spirit dissociated from the Father and the Son.

God’s salvation work is the work of the Triune God. If the people’s salvation is the salvation work of the Trinity, then we should say that the believer’s sanctification too is the work of the Triune God. Why has Christian theology failed to construct a correct theology and failed to change the lives of the people? It is because they have not properly interpreted the sanctification with the view of the Holy Trinity. My assertion is that “the believer’s holy life can become more fruitful and can become realized on this world through the sanctifying work of the Trinity.” The trinitarian viewpoint on sanctification will open a new era in the Pentecostal theology of sanctification and will open new perfect ways of sanctification to those people fighting with their sins, awaiting a truly holy life. First, I have looked at the interpretation of Christian’s life from the historical viewpoint. In Christian history, the reason that there lacks understanding of sanctification is that they understand salvation to be divided into three different works of God, namely, the sovereign work of God the Father, the salvific work of Christ, and the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit. To restore its proper understanding of sanctification, then trinitarian viewpoint is absolutely necessary. The trinitarian understanding of sanctification understands the mutual relationship of God the Father, the Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. The sanctification of the people cannot be completed by God’s grace alone, cannot be completed by Jesus Christ’s atonement alone, and cannot be achieved by the Holy Spirit’s strong work either. If salvation is the work of the triune God, then sanctification too must be achieved by the work of the Trinity too. Therefore, the sanctification of the people can be completed through God’s sovereign grace, through the completed work of Jesus Christ, and through the internal work of the Holy Spirit.

This thesis aims to analyze the theological meaning of the Fourth Dimension in Young San Yonggi Cho’s theology and to present the importance of its implication in Christian life. In a recent tendency of “positive thinking" emerging from Your Best Life Now, this thesis is an attempt to find the important element of the law of faith by studying Young San’s fourth dimension. Especially, this study considers the key elements of the fourth dimension and proposes to suggest the theological meaning of the fourth dimension. First of all, this study theoretically explains that the theological background for the Fourth Dimension is related to the sovereignty of God, spiritual world in the fourth dimension, and the concept of “Written Word of God” and “Spoken Word of God”. Second, this study explores the law of the fourth dimension which contains and controls the third dimension. In the law of the fourth dimension, there are four theological elements; thinking, vision, faith and word. God has been using these spiritual laws to change and lead many lives to be successful. Even though the law of the fourth dimension for a successful Christian life has been consistently progressing, the negative thinking always hinders the powerful work of the Holy Spirit. That is why we need to rely on the Bible and to pray continually. Third, this study contributes to the distinctive theological perspectives; an approach to understanding the theological implication of the fourth dimension. A theological approach to the fourth dimension proposes to restore the sovereign rule of the God the Father, to manifest a pneumatological anthropology, and the theology of Word and prayer. The concluding part summarizes the findings of the study, and sets forth possible directions for the fourth dimension in the 21st century. At present, it seems that it may be possible to live a successful Christian life through using the fourth laws of the fourth dimension, based upon theological implication employed by Young San.
