조명 설계 소프트웨어의 사용자 정의 코팅 기능을 사용한 콜레스테릭 액정 컬러 필터 시뮬레이션에 관한 연구

콜레스테릭 액정 컬러 필터의 광학적 특성 분석을 위한 모델링 및 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다. Berreman $4{\times}4$ 행렬법을 사용하여 입사각도별 콜레스테릭 액정 컬러 필터의 반사 스펙트럼을 계산하였고, 이를 광선 추적법에 기초한 조명설계 소프트웨어인 LightTools의 사용자 정의 코팅 파라미터로 입력하였다. LightTools를 이용하여 평면 투과형 콜레스테릭 액정 컬러 필터의 시야각에 따른 색변화를 시뮬레이션 하였다. 5도 간격 이하의 입사각도별 반사 스펙트럼을 LightTools의 사용자 정의 코팅 파라미터로 사용하였을 때, Berreman $4{\times}4$ 행렬법의 결과와 부합하는 결과를 얻을 수 있었다. 또한 반구형 패턴을 갖고 있는 반사형 콜레스테릭 액정 컬러 필터의 시야각에 따른 색변화를 시뮬레이션 하였는데, 본 논문의 시뮬레이션 방법을 비 평면형 구조에도 적용할 수 있음을 확인하였다. We have performed modeling and simulations of optical characteristics for a cholesteric liquid crystal (CLC) color filter. Berreman's $4{\times}4$ matrix method was used for the calculation of reflectance spectra of the CLC color filter with respect to the incident angle. The results were employed as input parameters for a user-defined coating property of an illumination design software based on the ray-tracing method, LightTools. Color shift characteristics of a planar transmission-type CLC color filter were simulated using LightTools. The results were compared with the results obtained with Berreman's $4{\times}4$ matrix method. It was found that color shift characteristics of the CLC color filter could be simulated to a reasonable accuracy when the reflectance spectra with less than 5 degrees of incremental incidence-angle were used as the input data for the user-defined coating property of LightTools. We have simulated color shift characteristics of a reflection-type CLC color filter having hemi-spherical patterns. The simulation method reported in this paper has been found to be also used for a non-planar CLC color filter structure.

We studied the aerial image of an laser direct writing system. An analytical expression for the pixel image was introduced and a concise formula for the aerial image of the system was presented. Simulations of a sawtooth pattern having various period values were performed. The aerial image contrast was obtained as a function of the sawtooth pattern period. It was found that the shorter the period, the worse the aerial image contrast. For sawtooth pattern periods larger than 84.0 ㎛ (40-pixel), the image contrast was greater than 0.9, while for sawtooth pattern periods smaller than 10.5 ㎛ (5-pixel), the image contrast was lower than 0.5
