The Purpose of this Study, focused on the sports equipment industry in Japan, is to look into that field closely and understand the shift and the trend of the sports equipment market as well. The results from this study are as follows: 1. The fast-growing big sports industry which includes such like golf, ski, and marine sports get stagnant by economic depression, equipment oversupply and price fall compacted with the past brisk market. 2. The American sports equipment industry`s advance into Japan and the joining of the new sports business make Japan`s sports equipment market have make excessive competition. Especially, There is a tendency divided in two shown as a small number of picked items` pro-shop(classified by sports items, such like golf, ski, tennis, baseball, etc,) and the specialized and large-sized sports equipment agencise. 3. The ski equipment business, as a result of the excessive price breaking, make a worse profit than ever and the people`s trust in brand sink severely. On the contrary, snow board business is highlighted as a promising market in the sports equipment industry. 4. According to the size and the component percentage of sports equipment market, golf business is found to occupy the sports equipment market generally.
