최근 고령화가 진행됨에 따라 시니어 시장의 규모가 확대되고 있고 특히, 시니어를 대상으로 하는 스마트폰의 보급률 및 사용률이 급증하고 있다. 이에 비해 시니어 세대는 시지각적 측면에서 색채의 인식범위가 줄어들기 때문에 시니어를 위한 스마트폰 화면의 색채연구의 필요성이 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 시니어층의 시지각 특성을 알아보고 시니어층을 대상으로 스마트폰 화면의 배경색과 글자색의 조합에 따른 가독성을 평가하여 시니어층의 시지각 특성이 반영된 스마트 콘텐츠용 색채 가이드 개발의 기초자료를 제공하고자 한다. 연구방법 및 결과는 다음과 같다. 시니어군 50명과 일반군 15명이 스마트폰에 제시되는 98개의 가독성 평가용 화면을 < 잘안보인다 ? 보인다 ? 잘보인다 >의 평가척도를 사용하여 평가하였다. 그 결과는 첫째, 가독성은 배경색과 글자색 간의 명도차와 관계가 있는 것으로 확인되었다. 명도차에 의한 가독성을 연령별로 비교한 결과, 일반군이 시니어군보다 작은 명도차에서도 가독성의 점수가 높게 나타났으며, 명도차가 커질수록 두 집단 모두 가독성은 증가하지만 시니어군은 일반군에 비해 명도차에 의한 가독성이 작은 폭으로 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 배경색과의 조합에 따른 글자색의 가독성을 비교한 결과, 전반적으로 일반군이 시니어군보다 높은 가독성을 나타냈으며, W색상 배경에서는 이와 같은 일반인 우위의 경향을 보인 반면, Bk색상 배경에서는 W색상일 때 보다 시니어군의 가독성이 높아졌다. 따라서 시니어군의 경우 밝은 배경의 어두운 글자 조합보다 어두운 배경의 밝은 글자 조합의 경우가 가독에 용이하다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 또한 R색상 글자는 배경과의 명도차가 작은 경우, 시니어군의 가독성이 일반군에 비해 높다는 특이점이 발견되었는데, 이는 시니어군에게 R색상 글자는 배경과의 명도차에 큰 영향을 받지 않고 비교적 가독성이 좋다는 것을 알 수 있었다. In recent increasement of senior population, the senior market is expanding in scale and in particular, senior targeted smartphone penetration and usage has upsurged. In comparison, for the senior generation in terms of perceptual, the range of colors reduces and therefore, study for color on senior targerted smartphone screen is required. In this study, the visual attributes and the senior targeting smartphone screen background and foreground color combination effecting the readability is evaluated to be reflected for color guide basis material. Research methods and results are as follows; Nintyeight smartphone screens were shown to the senior group of 50 people and general group of 15 people for readability assessment using a rating scale of <not seen well ? seen ? well seen>. In result, readability was found to have relationship with brightness difference between the background color and the text color. Comparison of the color combination due to the difference in age readability, the general group showed higher readability scores for lower brightness difference than the senior group. Also, with higher brightness difference, although both groups showed increase of the readability, the senior group showed smaller increase than the general group. Secondly, comparing the readability according to a combination of text color, the general group showed higher readability than the senior group in general, for W background the general group showed tends to lead while senior showed higher readability for Bk than W background. Therefore, for the senior group, a combination of a dark background with bright letters had better readability than a bright background with darker letter combination. In addition, R color letters that has small brightness difference between the background, the senior group showed higher readability than the general group.
