This study meta-analyzed published studies about social media usage in political election campaigns. The aim of this study is to examine the trends of studies about social media use which related to public relations of political election campaigns. According to the result of the meta-analysis, published studies cited social media use had influences on intention of support for the political candidates. Therefore, the government and politicians can use social media for policy making and management of public relations. Specifically, previous studies found that social media users with liberal political orientation tended to use social media politically. According to the research trends analysis, researchers have been continuously published the social media studies about political campaigns. However, recent studies reduce the diversity of the subject. Furthermore, the quantity of research paper has decreased. Future studies have to extend the study area of social media use in the election campaign to understand how social media engages public relations between political organizations and public.
