In the processing of foamed polymer products, one of the most important factors is the specific characteristics of rheology dependent on the mixture ratio of polymer and gas, which is used as the blowing agent. The viscosity change of the polymer and gas mixture is important in designing dies or molds, and it affects the quality of the product. In this experiment, the extruder was modified to suit the experiment and to mix polymer with gas inside barrel. The mixed polymer with gas in an one-phase melted condition was run through the various capillary die shapes to measure the viscosity change of polymer against the gas supply rate.
