The application of charged polyelectrolytes leads to agglomeration of contaminants in the wet end. The largest problems are due to formation of deposits. All these are emphasized by variations in the amount of polyelectrolytes added and micro stickies included in wet end. Most of the deposit problems can be helped and solved by choosing a proper polyelectrolytes as fixing agent, dry strength agent, retention aids and etc. This requires exact evaluation of deposit potentials of wet end stock and polyelectrolytes. PDT developed by KRICT was used in this study for this evaluation. Instead of conventional poly acrylamide (PAM), poly vinylamine (PVAm) could be used as harmless dry strength agent for recovered OCC. Effect of addition level of PVAm on the reduction of deposit potential has been investigated by PDT, lab scale test method.
