Organic agricultural materials are products made from substances permitted for use in the production, manufacturing, processing, or handling of organic agricultural products. Disclosure of information including the names, main ingredient details, quantities, and methods for usage of organic agricultural materials is regulated by the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Services (NAQS). In this study, the ingredients and characteristics of permitted substances were analyzed for acquisition of data on the disclosure status of organic agricultural materials with the purpose of sharing information on product development. As of 2022, using Pythons PyAutoGUI and Pandas libraries, the ingredient names of disclosed items were collected and processed and an analysis was performed using Excel’s pivot tables. There were 1,931 disclosed items of organic agricultural materials, including 955 items (49.5%) for soil improvement and crop growth, 311 items (16.1%) for insect control, 245 items (12.7%) for crop growth, 223 items (11.5%) for disease control, and 162 items (8.4%) for disease and insect control, and 35 items (1.8%) for soil improvement items. When categorizing the raw material names of items based on permitted substances for control of disease and insects, sodium silicate accounted for 59 items (19.4%) for disease control, natural plant preparations comprised 128 items (25.6%) for insect control, and both animal and plant-based oils as well as natural plant preparations each comprised 66 items (20.4%) for control of disease and insects, which were the most prevalent. The ingredient names of all items used in control of disease and insects were mainly represented by Sophora Flavescens extract and sulfur, each with 73 items (6.5%), and sodium silicate with 65 items (5.8%). However, analyzing the names of all ingredients can be challenging due to potential differences in disclosure of identical substances, making determination of accurate figures difficult. Improved methods for collection and processing of data for these disclosure documents may contribute to the collection of information on all disclosed organic agricultural materials. Collection of data on all organic agricultural materials could contribute to the standardization of names and the establishment of an accurate system of classification.
