To enhancement heat transfer performance, the metallic foam as heat exchanger was studied rapidly. This was attributed to its high surface area to volume ratio as well as intensive flow mixing by tortuous flow passages. So the experimental study about the heat transfer characteristic of metallic foam is presented in this paper. The material in this experiment was used as FeCrAl which has density of 10 ppi, 20 ppi and 30 ppi respectively. And the results show the heat transfer is rise with permeability Reynolds number increase and the pressure drop metallic foam was increased with the ppi increase.

For several decades, heat transfer enhancement has been the focal point of interest for high-performance thermal systems. On this basis, the variety heat exchanger part was considered in the present study for heat transfer enhancement. Metallic foam also can be applied in the heat exchanger instead of the plate fin. So, in the present study, the patents tendency about heat exchanger in the world was searched to research the metallic foam applied to heat exchanger. The results was analysed based on International Patent Classification(IPC) about the application possibility of metallic foam for heat exchanger.
A study on the characteristic of porous media

since porous medium will increase the performance of heat exchanger, porous medium is of growing interest in a wide range of engineering. But as the penalty of increasing heat transfer coefficient ,increasing of pressure drop should be taken into consideration. This paper represent an experiment, which is to used measure α and β of two copper porous medium (20ppi and 40ppi) with different porosity. α and β are important factor of pressure drop. Finally we got the relationship equation between unit pressure drop and velocity.

This study was performed to evaluate the theoretical analysis of the mass balance and heat balance, a single effect desalination process by mechanical vapor compression (MVC), and a set of correlations for evaluation of the thermo-physical property of water. The analysis focuses on prediction of specific power consumption for the vapor compression of the desalination process by mechanical vapor compression. A present study was performed the vapor compression ratio 1.24, the suction steam pressure 31.2 kPa (saturation temperature 343.15 K), and discharge pressure 38.6 kPa (saturation temperature 348.15 K). Finally, comparison of the specific energy consumption of the MVC desalination process and the 5 effect thermal vapor compression (MED-TVC) desalination process was evaluated. The choice between the two systems should be done when plant operating parameter and operating cost is considered
